Seems fixed.

From what I can see port 3128 is closed.
But transparent proxy is still operating on stpxc02.sentechsa.com.

Congradulations Sentech.

I am sure everyone will join me in thanking you for your prompt action regarding this.

actually, I've worked at a company that has been in IT for 11 years now, still struggling and have upgraded their network with hubs and cat5 cable.... too bad they still daisy chain the **** like the old black cables you used to get...

Help save the bandwidth. Decent download speeds for TheRodent! Stop downloading now!!!

I can only laugh, the spent so much cash on the equipment, modems and bandwidth inclduing media reports etc, and all they need to do is close the proxies off. I know one of the guys who wrote there bandwith management system, and trust me its a good system, however as with anything in life, one small crack in the chain weakens the entire chain.

Do they ever check there logs, i am check the freaking logs once a month it does not take a long nor an intellgent person to do so.

Hi Guys

Have not posted before but have been following this board with some interest. I am still on dialup and wanted to switch to MW as soon as they launched in my area. Don't need to say that they have launched but I will not join. I tested the proxy that TheRodent pointed on his website but honestly guys, if that is the speed you are getting I am shocked. I am running my own proxy (Linux) and Firewall(Linux) between myself and ISP. When I switched off my proxy and entered the one given my connection was crawling. With my setup and a 56K modem I get much better speed than sentech proxy and dialup. Rodent might have found the bottleneck to the entire network problem. Good luck and Keep the fight up.

I was indeed born in the Chinese year of the Rat. By pure coincidence my handle ended up being TheRoDent [:)]

I don't think our problems end here, but I do think that this might turn eyes inwards, instead of towards their userbase. Sentech take the previous advise. Get a bandwidth management tool, and fix those Microwave backlinks where a lot of the problem is still ocurring.

Now that we've cleared the proxy issue, how much truth was behind the hacking claims of hosting MP3s at 3Meg by 30 or 300 users?

Something of this nature would have a substantial impact on the network, no?

Well, at least their smtp server isn't an open relay

>>>
Open Relay Test Results
Default domain is staff.iinet.net.au

Connecting to smtp.sentech.co.za ...

FAILURE

Unfortunately the program failed because...

Open socket failed
<<<

Download of http://www.sentech.co.za/speedtest/512k.gif peaked above 10K/sec at one point, and then dropped back to an average of 5K, so the 128k package is still about the same as a 56k modem, but getting better. "enter the broadband zone" some other day.
