OK, time's up, iBurst.......

I sent a contact request to iBurst. I got an email back today saying the problem is resolved which is absolute rubbish. My connectivity is back but worse than ever. Some pages won't load. And when I test them out on a Telkom line they are perfectly fine. The only reason I moved to iBurst is so that I didn't have to pay an extra line rental. I guess the joke is on me now. As I would jump ship and pay whatever line rental if I was not stuck in a contract with iBurst. Please iBurst fix this connectivity issue correctly now and don't lie to us and say it is resolved.

And still up to bollocks connection speed, disconnects, pages not loading, etc............
I had to reload this page 7 times before I could post a reply.

FIX THIS CRAP PLEASE OR LOSE A CUSTOMER.
In all honesty, I would rather pay a penalty and cancel this contract than sit with a totally unreliable internet connection.

Please iBurst, get your act together and at least tell us what the heck the problem is and what you are doing about it.

Yeah, speeds are ridiculous at the moment. Mine is now down from 830kbps (the past 2 years) to 116kbps currently.

They're not replying on emails to the Help desk any more.

I've even pointed the @iBurst twitter account which is quite active to this thread. But it doesn't seem like anyone is caring at the moment.

If they don't care about losing 1 customer, there is at least 5-6 users who are willing to abandon ship in this 2 page thread alone.

I have complained on iBurst twitter about the lack of feedback here. I am disappointed how the support here has detoirated.

I too been experiencing timesouts, slow connections and signal loss both at home and at work.

Good Day All

Please PM me your UTID's and we will track this issue. We apologise for this issue and will tend to each and evryone of you. Your paitience is high apreciated.

So I got called by a technician yesterday which asked me to download DrTCP so long and that he'll call me back this morning to configure it. Strange thing is that the app is for Win2k and WinXP and not recommended for Vista and Win7. But we'll see what happens.
Also I doubt changing the MTU settings on my PC will make a difference when I'm using a broadband router.

Strange thing is that ever since last night when I went to bed, my speed has been back to normal :-/ Will see if it lasts though. Got up to a high of 950kbps last night. Which does however mean that the fault is not with my pc getting 150-330kbps the last two weeks.

How is everyone else speeds looking ?

So what exactly was the problem iBurst?

Getting these speeds now (which was the norm a few weeks ago):

And just to mention it again, nothing has changed. Modem still in the same spot and PC hardware + software unchanged.
How can speeds go from a crawl to decent speeds again?

Please just tell us what the issue was/is/will be in future?

Just did a speed test 00:00 21 November 2011 and I really really got no idea why its so bad. There should be no heavy traffic on the tower/s

Sunnyridge corner of School and Kernic Road. Signal strength 90 to 92% with external areal on the roof.

Please fix this area. This is the speeds I got every day. I did turn the areal in diffrent directions to other towers and this is the best speed out of all of them.

All the towers have RF based backhauls except for about 30 sites on fibre. So if there is a storm sweeping the area changes are that there could be backhaul issues being experienced. Check on WeatherSA.

My speed tests were done 2 hours from each other ... one gives me 1.01mbps, other 0.11mbps ... that is a 900kbps difference in 2 hours. On a day where there wasn't any storms/clouds. And there has never been a problem like this with the weather in the past. (it would maybe go down to 600kbps)

Most people get shaped to 128kbps after their capped is reached. So to get less than that speed on a normal service is not acceptable.

Currently I don't think I'll be able to use all my allocated data in a month even if I tried. (just because of the crappy speed)

I got better speeds during heavy thunderstorms here in Pta than the current speeds during the day with clear skies......
Used to easily get close to 2mbps during storms, but now it is just over 1Mbps if we are lucky during the day.

We have put a fibre into Centurion and are completing maintenance work to use it as an aggregation point for RF links in the area. This will result in Pta having less RF hops than previously. The maintenance work should be completed by the holidays (or the techies don't go on holiday!)
