OK, time's up, iBurst.......

There are no known issues that the techies are reporting. Please PM your UTID to íBurst and Mel will arrange to have it investigated.

It would also help and make troubleshooting faster if the location name in your profiles were also updated.

I have done this. And all that happened is that the support techies wanted me to install some software that is not applicable to my operating system. They arranged a specific time to phone me to try and guide me through settings on my pc (as this is where they believe the problem to be). But the NEVER phoned. And after that Mel didn't respond to and messages.

I still refuse to believe that the problem is on my side if I can get speeds like this: (which I was getting constantly before switching packages, and now get 5% of the time) - Was always between 700kbps - 1mbps
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1602065246.png

Then go to this (which i'm now getting 95% of the time since switching packages) - It varies between 200-400kbps

I've mentioned numerous times that I'm in the Centurion/Raslouw/Mall@Reds area

I agree 100%.

Even after we switched packages, the speed was still the same, then around a month ago, it all went south very quickly.

As I have mentioned countless times as well, modem is still in the exact same spot where I got 2.5+Mbps at night and close to or just above 2Mbps with ease during the day.
Hardware and software is still also the same on my PC. But in the last month the speeds have dropped to near dial-up type speeds.

Why would speeds drop so drastically if there is supposedly nothing wrong with the network? It is NOT a problem with my PC, I can guarantee that.

And just to add: these are not isolated cases. Go check this section and go check on iBurst's FB page and see how many people are complaining about download speeds declining countrywide in the last month.

Now tell us again that it is a problem with our PC's please......

RG - you may be aware that on the desktop modems there's a light that flashes according to connection -red if it's bad, yellow if it's poor, green if it's ok. Do you think we're all moaning at you while staring at red lights? Because on mine, as I'm sure on everyone else's, it's all green. It's sadly amusing that you want to sit there and blame the stupid n00bs for not knowing how to point an antenna rather than admitting even the possibility that things are seriously f-ed up at iburst.

Below are speedtests I ran over the weekend. Right now our telkom line is capped so I'm on iburst, I just ran a speed test now (well, several attempts to get it) and it's the worst speed I've ever seen.

Disgusting service, can't wait to be done with it.

I do not doubt that you indeed have an issue. The access techies require UTIDs and location with an escalation through Mel.

Hi Guys

Please PM me your UTID's in order for us to do a thorough investigation.

So last night after adjusting the antenna, and not succeeding in getting a faster speed than a snail going over sandpaper
i gave up and went inside and log into my iburst router to see what the hell is actually going on.

To my surprise what i found is that i have 100% signal strength without any packet loss showing up
and i looked at that dam page a bloody long time that shows the stats. Let me rephrase that
again 100% SIGNAL STENGHT AND NO PACKET LOSS

I’m connecting to the mountain view towers with and external antenna, my line of sight is clear
there is no trees no building nothing in the way, the tower is as clear as daylight in front of me

I even formatted my pc and installed everything new as I thought that was the problem, I am using
the wireless router iburst provided and my mtu is exactly the same as said on the iburst web page FAQ

Now how the hell am i still only receiving 10 kbs downloads with a 100% signal strength and no packet loss
and don’t say it’s on my side, cause that is a bs story

Im starting to loose all hope in iburst how is it still possible to get speeds like this with a signal that good, online
gaming has become none existent even browsing pages u have to reload about 4 or 5 times

I will send a PM to you with details later Melanie.

One thing I want to know is where are the iBurst towers situated around the Ashlea Gardens/Alphen Park/Maroelana/Hazelwood are here in Pretoria and what their BSCC's are?

At around 7pm I checked the iBurst Configuration Utility and it said "Aligned BSCC 19" and has shown that since I can remember. Now it shows "0". Even moving the modem around (again), shows no change, it stays on "0".

I find this very very baffling........after being basically stuck with less than 0.5Mbps at night for the last month, I just got this:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1620058663.png

And this:
http://www.pingtest.net/result/51528648.png

Now that speed and Ping I can live with.

And it wasn't a fluke either (hopefully), as I did 15 Speedtests in a row and got over 1.5mbps each time.
Hopefully Mel can sort this out once and for all tomorrow when she gets our details I sent via PM.

And I will check speeds again tomorrow.

Looks like my speed has stabilized overnight as well. My WoW launcher was downloading the new patch data at +-180kbps this morning.

We are checking and willa dvise soonest.

Still getting close to 1Mbps:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1620941879.png

And have been constantly connected since around 5-30pm yesterday and no connectivity issues so far. Just the speed still sucks a bit.

I am slowly calming down and might still get my faith back in this Silver Surfer soon. Hopefully.

I would love to know what the issue is/was.

Haha, at least for you having a 600kbps speed drop on a 2mbps modem still gives you around 1mbps.

For us on 1mbps modems, a 600kbps drop means we barely have internet.

Our 1Mbps modem downstairs is getting 0.72Mbps where previously it was struggling to connect to Speedtest.
Something has happened around here at last.
