Old 8ta / Telkom Mobile Smartplan Contract - 5GB data

I have a Smartplan 100 that includes 5GB Telkom Mobile data. The contract is almost due for renewal.

Will I still get the 5Gb monthly data when the contract runs out and I let it run on a month to month bases?

Will I still get charged for the device after the contract term ended?
 
Anybody? Telkom rep didn't respond to PM either :(

Got different answers from different shops.
 
I asked this a while back, it should still be 5gb month to month

I am going to be in the same position soon, so hope it does

Not a rep but long time 10+10 customer, it will run month to month until they decide that your deal is unsustainable when they'll start calling you with other offers.

Once you decline these other offers regularly enough they'll tell you that they are trying to help you avoid having your contract default to it's actual price of [insert stupid monthly cost figure here].

One store told me that it would be downgraded to one of the current packages since the 5GB was a promo only valid for 24 months.

The other store told me that it would continue to run on month to month bases as is but they would subtract the device subscription charge.

If # 2 is correct it would be silly to upgrade my contract as I would get 100 Minutes + 5GB for R100 per month.

If # 1 is correct I might as well upgrade before the contract term ends as I am desperate for a new phone.

When does your contract end?

I think mine ends in October or November
 
Just spoke to one of the Telkom agents via the Website. They tell me that the device charge as well as the 5GB data will be deducted from the existing contract when it runs out. He said something along the lines that it will be migrated to a sim only - month to month package with 100 minutes and 150mb data @R99.

Maybe you pissed him/her off? :p

I also need to upgrade my note 2 on smart save 150 that doesn't exist anymore. Wondering if its worth the wait. Maybe the note 4's price will drop as note 5 will launch in September.
 
I ended up upgrading after being told by multiple people from TM that I would lose the 5GB after the contract ran out.
