Old Ipad or Mac

Yes yes and yes.

Wow.

Anyway, I bought my first in '09... 13" MBP... It had 2Gb of RAM and, to be honest, I upgraded it to 4Gb in '12 'cos it was just a little 2,2Ghz C2D jobbie. Still, I think the hybrid I dropped in made more of a difference.

My Air ran just fine on 4Gb for seven years.

Sure, the new Pro has 8Gb and I don't expect I'll be upgrading it for a long while... But then, I'm not editing video and the like... So I, and the OP, who don't need more RAM because we're not editing video and the like, will do just fine with stock RAM... the way Apple intended.

What is it you do that you didn't think all the way through when you bought your obviously-underpowered-for-the-specific-task Mac?

what do you do with your old iPad? I have the first iPad mini it still charges but hasn't had a software update for years

I use mine for reading books and occasionally to browse the web.
Pretty useless beyond that unfortunately.

its like a kindle then?
exactly!

iPad mini is just right size for my bear claws and battery still surprisingly good.
Obviously the screen is not as good for reading as a kindle ;-)

I found out recently that if you go the App store on your old device and select "purchased" it gives you all of the apps you have bought up to now and are on your account. It will install the last version that works on your old machine, obviously unless it's a new thing like Disney+ or something then it won't run.

So for me I also have an original iPad mini and I now use it in my office on a stand beside my workstation showing the 3 x IP cameras I have installed so I can keep an eye on things while I'm working.
