This morning was one of those interesting mornings at work.

I get to work, and get told that my bakkie is leaking oil, nothing major.

My bosses bakkie is dead so we have to drop a networking job to get these vehicles sorted.

My boss tries to call AA, can't help, we not a member.
Opel won't help because a) the bakkies warranty expired last month and they want R900 to send someone out to jump start the vehicle (if that is the problem) and this excludes towing charges.
Santam want R900 too to do the same thing Opel want to do.

What ever happened to phoning someone and getting help...

Imagine you phone a computer place, sorry, we can't help, you not a member, or we want ... what, R300 first before we come help.

Anyways, both bakkies are sorted now (mines still leaking, but yeah, we will deal with that shortly)

Sounds reasonable to me.

I have never heard of a computer guy who is willing to "take a look" at your computer for free. They all have a charge too. In fact every little thing has a price with them. Downgrade OS R450. Install program R300.

I am sure there is somebody around your premises with jumper cables that will give you a hand.

I can understand that Opel etc wants to charge.

R50 if you lump it together in your insurance package.

Strange the AA has helped me out previously (a few years back and wasn't a member) no problem.

If you bank with FNB (or is it card?) AA membership is free they (FNB) don't tell you that. My sister found out the hard way. Paying for AA membership for a couple of years.

They do tell you. It's part of your petrol card.

Yeap, the one vehicle is covered (mine) but the Opel wasn't or isn't... YET.

No dude! AA doesn't work on a per car basis! Its more for yourself! You are covered not the car. So irrespective of which car you travelling with, if you do have a problem you still covered.

Could be like my Bantam that is covered by some AA thing, specific to the car...

Anyone who hasn't got his own jumper cable should not complain when no one wants to help. :erm::D:D

A jumper cable should be standard equipment. I have that, fire extinguisher, first aid kit and small toolkit (Not that I'm a mechanic) in my boot. ALWAYS.:D
