Can anyone confirm if i can use one adsl line and have two concurrent accounts active from 2 seperate ISP's say a 30gig from AYCE and 10gig from webafrica. Wereby one user is using the AYCE acount and the otehr user is using the webafrica account. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Yup you could, but u wouldnt get max line speed on both accounts... I do exactly this, 1 uncapped uunet account, and on another pc i connect to a saix based account :)

Say you were downloading on the 1 account @ 35kb/s on 512k line, the other would max out around 20kb/s or so :)

Hope this help a lil :)

what i basically want to do is, we are planning on getiing an adsl line installed in our complex which we are sharing with our neighbours, so they want there own usage and i want my own usage but i dont want to have two lines or 2 adsl routers. all machines are running windows xp, is there anyway i can get the one flat to use the one account and the the flat to use the other account??

Yeah should work, one thing, check out RASPPPOE, but i think the guys mentioned it in the other thread ant1b0dy posted.

Good luck let us know how it worked.

Yes, it works - you can make multiple PPPoE connections on the same line.
When using the same account, you won;t be able to determine who made the call - the source line will be the same for both of you.

You can make this setup Wireless. You can initiate PPPoE connections over Wireless then (seeing that Wireless = Ethernet).

Defiantly need to look into this.

Anyone know if its possible with a SMC 7904BRA?

I used this, got 2 connections, but windows didn't know what to do and I cound't browse the net or connect to MSN or anything... eventually I managed to get all the traffic going over one of the connections and none over the other

Anyone actually been able to make it work properly?

As long as the modem you're using supports bridge mode, you can do what you want to AmonRe.

All that is required is a TCP network link (I imagine wireless will be easiest to implement) between your neighbour and the modem.

Having multiple machines each establish their own PPPoE session is not a problem. Each machine will use a different account and the usage will be logged against the corresponding account.

RASPPPOE is only required if you want to make multiple connections from the same machine concurrently, on Winblows.

Oh, I should've read the thread before posting.

Yeah we use a Planet wireless access point connected to a smc adsl router in bridge mode at our office. Each use on the network connects using their own ISP account, thus usage isn't the compainies problem, and if you eat up your cap it's up to you to top up. It works well and we find that we squeese more speed out of our shabby line.

Could you specify all traffic to a certain IP goes through the one account and the rest through another?

Thanks

only if the pppoe sessions are established on the same machine (which would usually be acting as a router)

If you want traffic shaping, one should consider using a MikroTik or similar router. The only issue here is that you will have 2x same GW if using the same SP.
