Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

Which protector did you settle on?

I've got one of these Spigen ruggered armour covers for my 7 Pro, just ordered one for my 7T Pro... Quite a bulky cover but I'm not taking any chances and it seems to be quite robust and durable...

2 packs of this are in my cart for now.

I love that rugged armour case, I've had the same one on my OP7 since day 1. I use the kickstand extensively to watch movies/shows particularly while travelling. I'm ordering 1 for my 7T Pro as well.
I've just dug in a drawer, I've got so many unused OP7 cases.

How are you enjoying the 7T Pro? How does it compare to your 6 that you had?
I got a 7 Pro about a year ago, gave my 6 to my daughter. That's usually the upgrade cycle in the family. Would give the 6 to my SO and retire her iPhone 7 but she's having none of it!! Stubborn and enjoys iOS too much!

So the 7T Pro feels noticeably faster than the 7 Pro. Wasn't expecting that and I wonder if it's on account of the 7 Pro slowing down with age? I did a fresh install on the 7 Pro before handing it over to my daughter and she's blown away by it! Says much better than the 6. That 6 is 30 months old though. Did a fresh install on the 6 too and added No Limits custom rom and must say, it still feels damn decent considering its age.

But 6 v 7T Pro, quite a big difference, decent upgrade I would say. The screen refresh rate, 90hz v 60hz, is the single biggest difference! Chalk and cheese!!

Must say, I prefer the face unlock on the 6 with it's front facing notch located camera. The pop up on the Pro's is a bit noisy. The whole process feels more seamless and refined on the 6, where it's a bit clunky on the Pro. Also can't help but worry about the mechanism's longevity.

Also the flat screen on the 6 is more practical in day to day use v the curved Pro's screen. Curved more modern and fancy but harder to find easy fitting protective cases and screen protectors, harder to actually fit them and then there's the accidental key presses. Not sure about OP's palm rejection software...

Physical fingerprint sensor on the 6 is also superior to the one located in screen on the Pro's. I'm actually finding the one on the new 7T Pro not as accurate and responsive as the one in the 7 Pro. Will give it time to settle in (it does have a learning component to it) but really nothing can beat the 6's physical fingerprint reader...

I think I've listed a few key areas where actually the 6 is probably more practical and enjoyable to interact with on the day to day. Not the shining endorsement of the 7T Pro that I was expecting...

The screen though, on the 7/7T Pro, no comparison! Responsiveness and speed differential, noticeable but not a massive gap at all. The 6 flies!! Make no mistake!

Cameras? On paper the Pro is streets ahead. Haven't really put the 7T Pro through its paces but the few comparisons I have done, there's quite a big gap in quality, 8%-11% improvement... Camera on the 6 was never really considered flagship quality though. Close but not quite.

I've got the Spigen on my 7T for now too, until the replacement arrives!! GREAT case!!

You should stick those unused cases on Carbonite! Sure you'd find buyers?

What replacement are you getting?

I'll get around to advertising them, I'll probably flog my OP7 too.

One thing that annoys TF out of me is that when I am listening to a voice note on whatsapp, the screen switches off and the loud speaker switches to the phone speaker instead.

In terms of covers for 7T Pro, how does the Spigen Tough Armor compare against the Olixar Novashield Bump?

I compared the 7T Pro camera with my iPhone XS Max and it is basically on par and in some cases better than my iPhone.
The video is also great on the 7T Pro and the iPhone is only slightly ahead.
I am quite impressed as OnePlus isn't really that great in the camera department.

This is the same behaviour on all phones. I for one like this feature as it gives you privacy when listening to voice notes in public.

Same case again, just the 7T Pro version with the punch out for the auto focus sensor!! Ordered 2, one for me and one for my brother in law, priority shipping, R1122 for both... So R561 a piece...

That's impressive! I have the Gcam module installed. Haven't really had a chance to put it through its paces but the Gcam module, loosely (or not loosely) based on what the Pixel phone ships with, generally out perform the Oneplus's native camera app...

Shot a non potrait selfie at lunch today...

I must say I actually prefer the stock OnePlus image - looks a lot less processed, more natural with less haloing, although color seems to be slightly more accurate with the 2nd Gcam shot.

I found the night shot results on Gcam far superior than that of the native OnePlus camera app on my 6T.

This is a great start for those wanting to get into photography on OnePlus.

edit: ignore thanks, i found the tracking facility on VC website. Order has left JHB en route to Durban.

@sand_man , what site did you track from and were you sent a link? So far I've got a K228xxxx number from their last SMS that says my order is being handed over to courier.

Mine also arrived today. Must I do anything special to activate the sim card? It's currently installed but no signal/empty triangle and trying to dial out says 'no service'.
