Oneplus 7T and 7T Pro

Ok that blows!

I spent most of the day being sent back and forth between their Online Sales team and the Accounts department, they couldn't proceed with the order due my previous contract from 2016 not being in a 'Settled' state despite me being on prepaid now. Then every time i was sent to the Accounts team, the system sent me to customer care because my account was not in arrears!

Finally by 5pm my order was placed, then i was advised it was in a Pending state and that they would call me back tomorrow morning. Whether they will just then call me to say there's no stock remains to be seen :X3:
No man, this guy i dealt with didn't tell me i needed to send in docs and he hasnt gotten back to me the whole day  So i spoke to someone else now and i must send in the usual copy of ID, payslip and 3 months bank statements

Approval will likely only happen on Monday or Tuesday since it's practically the weekend

edit: So i must send my docs to vadmin[at]coactivate[dot]co[dot]za, is that legit, did anyone else do this?

Hi

Is this the call after they send you the sms? or another call after that?
They only called my once, to confirm my identity and delivery address. I got the SMS about the same time.

I have an existing contract with Vodacom, so they process is simplified compared to new clients. They don't require any documentation if you're an existing client.

Hi, anyone cancel the contract and pay the phone cash? Will it be 75% of R9500? Or will a cancellation penalty be charged as well. As I'm not really interested in the SIM.

Why not take it on a Top Up contract at R409 pm, if you dont want to take it on the open-line contract at R399 pm. Then just put the sim in a drawer or lend it to someone you like :)

They don't calculate it simply at 75%.
The breakdown was R220/month for the device, balance was for the minutes and data. So you'll have to pay 220 x 24 for the device portion so the device is paid off in full, then what ever they deem as their reasonable cancellation charge (75% according to the t&c).
I've ordered one, will try cancel after a month or so and see what happens.

I called em just now.
You pay the balance of your contract in full plus a 75% fee.
You won't pay for the device in full and then a 75% cancellation fee just on the sim part.

I am waiting for delivery of the phone. I am going to buy a case for it.
Is the phone compatible with 7 Pro cases or should I only look at buying a 7T Pro case?

Does the phone come with a good screen protector or should I also put in an order for a screen protector.

That really doesn't sound right. The graphic is how I interpreted their T&C's.

Cancellation fee should work out to R8500 (220x24 + 179x24x0.75).
Yeah the consultant was fumbling a bit.
So this means that if we do cancel we will pay less than the full contract total.

It is compatible with the 7pro cases except for one fairly critical element. The 7t pro has an additional laser sensor for camera focusing. It sits just to the left of the camera sensor array. 7pro doesn't have this sensor and therefore cases for the 7 pro don't have a cut out to accommodate this sensor.

Camera still works fine but auto focus doesn't work so well if the sensor is covered.

The phone ships with a screen protector already applied. Probably of a reasonable quality. I always leave it on as long as possible cause whatever I replace it with is never applied as accurately and I always end up regretting changing it.

Agreed. Just for clarity, the 7 Pro also has the same laser focus sensor, but it is integrated into the camera sensor array. For some weird reason, they decided to move this sensor to the left of the camera sensor array on the 7T Pro.

Hey guys, is this variant from VC the HD1913?
Got an SMS at 11pm last night, saying packed for delivery, I would expect by Wednesday this coming week.

Thanks.
Can anyone recommend brands of screen protectors? I'm busy building up an order from Amazon and will chuck a few in.
When I bought my OP7 I added whatever tempered glass protectors were available and they've worked out fine, but of course that's on a flat screen.

I also ordered a few along with cases a year ago when I got my 7 pro. I fail terribly when it comes to applying screen protectors. Particularly difficult on a curved screen. I paid around R800 for one that I screwed up on applying and basically used it for a couple of hours before removing.

If I change the stock screen protector, I'm going to take it to a cell provider and let them apply it.

Ended up buying these locally. Not great but did the trick. Not easy to apply if you doing it for the first time and then the air bubbles that accumulate, you have to be careful what you use and the amount of pressure you exert getting them out as the plastic is kind of malleable.

Shot, I'm going to order 2 x triple packs of a particular protector that has reasonable reviews, the rest of dismal reviews. I'll basically have enough to play with getting installation right.
I was the same with my OP7, I left the factory fitted protector on for as long as possible, my wife too.

Which protector did you settle on?

I've got one of these Spigen ruggered armour covers for my 7 Pro, just ordered one for my 7T Pro... Quite a bulky cover but I'm not taking any chances and it seems to be quite robust and durable...
