OnePlus One - $300 killer Android phone

Apparently they are manufacturing like mad and have stopped production on the 16GB in favour of the 64Gb and will only launch with that one.
Still think the exclusivity thing is not something you want to try with a phone, especially if it has equal competition readily available, its specs are comparable to whats coming out within the next 3-6 months from almost everyone anyway.

Having a custom rom and pre-rooted automatically cuts your market share to the more tech-savvy android users, the AVG joe on the street has no idea who Cyanogen are and why its "better", top that off with those of us who love our root, care very little for the re-sellers threats of voiding warranty, I root a phone the instant I pull it out of the box, if the manufacturer voids the warranty I pay them R160 for an BER deceleration and get a new one from insurance.

Remember this is the debut product of a new company. They have no manufacturing infrastructure set up yet. All this stuff will take a while to smooth out.

It's doubtful. But it's sold unlocked and I reckon you could get it shipped over cheaply. I'm mulling over getting this rather than a contract phone when it comes up in August and then just selling the contract phone.

Hey , please let me know how it goes I for one am sick of the proces we pay for phons on sa by the time out providers do get the phones its no where close to a good price

Any one with a p6 would know that the specs on paper don't show in reality huawei's processors are made my they own company resulting in poor performance

Actually, anyone who owns a P6 would know your talking absolute ****t.

So around R5K (excluding import duties) you can ship one in?

Wonder what the total will end up at.

More like R5000 including. No shipping to SA listed, closest Zimbabwe as the closest I could see and that was $3, then 14% vat for the import and you looking at 4930 with todays exchange rate, so depending on exchange fluctuations you can expect to pay between R4900 and R5200 if you can find a way to ship it here.

I almost got a kindle for someone the other day, they wanted to add around 50% to the price for delivery and customs/duties.

Delivery and customs, maybe, ridiculous, but still. Customs is 14%, aka VAT, then there is also a like sort of handeling fee which is a flat rate, last time I paid it, it was like R25.

Delivery all depends on the how, even normal postage can be **** expensive from overseas.
Personally, I think $3 is way light for a phone cross continents.

I have been looking for one. But I guess I will wait for something to come to South Africa that I want more than this :(

I got a OnePlus One invite :D

Wooo!

It's for the 64Gb Sandstone Black Edition. Some issues at the moment:

1) I only have 24 hours to buy it. Wtf OnePlus?

2) I have to pay through PayPal, which I've never used.

3) It does not ship to my country

Specifications does look amazing though and it's only going to cost $360 including shipping :wtf:

Arrange one of them uk things that let you send it through them

Paypal is easy, just don't make mistakes setting it up.

Have fun! :)

Sweet. How did you get that? Let us know how it goes! Amazing phone for the price.

I do know some people in Belgium, so going to look into that.

You have to create an account on their site. They had some competitions, where you could get an invite. Basically marketing their phone. Some people hate it, pretty brilliant imo, although annoying.
