You have to create an account on their site. They had some competitions, where you could get an invite. Basically marketing their phone. Some people hate it, pretty brilliant imo, although annoying.

Oh so luck of the draw then... nice one. It's partly marketing but more due to the extreme constraints they're having on supply right now I think. There's a big question over whether they can really sustain that pricing so best get it while you can.

It is a clever approach, they can control the demand to limited a degree, especially with entering the market. Canonical could had used this approach with the Ubuntu Edge...

$150 more actually. Subtotal $499 vs $350 in the US.

So I read some threads, OnePlus covers the taxes for the EU (not sure about the rest of the world). The mark the package with something like DDP (Duty ___ paid), can't remember exactly.

I got an invite as well ! Placed my order on Sunday. Cost R3965.95 for the device and shipping to US. I reckon it'll cost just over R5000 all costs included. I'm using NYbox for the forwarding.

I see that you can buy one on: http://www.oppomart.com/ , but at $389 for the base model it is quite expensive.
