Hi all, with the impending arrival of FTTH, what options are there for online backups? Local or otherwise?

Specifically, I'm looking to back up terabytes of data from a mac, with a lot off an external drive.

thanks in advance

Have a look at Crashplan

I have used their free product for years now and am very happy with it.

You can get unlimited online backup for $6 per month (or $5 per month if you take a year subscription).

IronTree seems to know what they are doing but your FTTH might kill the rubbish connection they are running on. Don't be shy to look at international services like Crashplan or backbaze.

Soteria backup - http://www.soteriacloud.co.za/ ive realised are much cheaper than irontree !
its a local South African cloud backup online backup company
They courier a drive to you (and then courier it back ) for your first initial big backup / initial upload

/edit For some reason their "pricing" page took me to the enterprise version each time. Keeping my reply up for historical purposes

* All per-user contracts charged annually. All prices shown above in USD. 25 license minimum purchase.

The $5 / month is more like $125 / month, and that's without their cloud storage option. The amount then goes to $250 per month. So if you and 24 buddies scrape together a lumpsum of $3000 for the year, then awesome, you get unlimited cloud storage backup.

I'd rather buy a car with that amount of money and drive my data to a data center every week after using something like hashbackup.

So you are telling me you can just manually backup your data to an external HDD? wow, wonder why people was money on crashplan

Yea I was thinking I'd rather save myself a crap ton of cash and do manual backups if I'm to pay $3000 a year for this

Why do people waste money on hairless cats? Same logic to me.
