Online computer gaming surges

...whilst over in South Africa, a serious rogering is occuring with no climax in sight.

Let us hope that by raising some consumer awareness we can raise the level of online gaming in South Africa as well.

With local broadband it is still a whole helluva lot cheaper to play games online than most other forms of entertainment.

Well makes sense, if you do the math, to be a World of Warcraft addict @ $15 a month [R130'ish] is probably the most economical entertainment-hobby one can HOPE to be addicted to. If i take the year i played WoW every night, man i saved so much money it's amazing ;) I didn't have time to buy anything else, now to get something new.

Compare that to ONE console title a month @ R700 a pop and then you're even done with it in a week....

Only our bandwidth costs is holding me back from exploring other online genres like First Person Shooters. I'm avoiding most Xbox360 online games primarily because my connection that can't handle fast paced-high bandwidth gaming , so i stick to more latency-friendly online games [mostly MMOs].

Bear in mind that you can pick up +-5 gigs of local cap from Axxess vouchers, that you can buy through pick and pay or engen for about R70. Depending on the game you play you are looking at 40 - 80 megs an hour depending on the game you play.

Do the math of how many hours you get from a voucher like that. And then you think about the R130 for 30 gigs through Openweb I think :D
