Online shopping prices compared

Makro and Everyshop really need to think about their storefronts. Number one reason I don't shop with them is the pain of finding something! Makro's site is slow sluggish and the "not available online" items makes the experience so frustrating that it is easier to just go to takealot or loot.

Loot really needs to be added to these comparisons. They surprise me every time.

Ever looked for "Raspberry Pi" from everyshop? It starts displaying makeup, perfume and lipstick. Searching for the same term on takelaot returns what you're actually looking for.

So Everyshop is more expensive than Takealot overall.

I cannot take Everyshop seriously if they are going to resort to bait-and-switch marketing. I've discussed it in other threads but flaunting a promotion, only to limit it to certain areas, is not something that I would like to see in an online store trying to make inroads in the market.

ESPECIALLY if the limit applies to all major cities (JHB, PTA, DBN, BFN, CPT, PE) with no prior warning. Case in point:

First they entice you to register by offering you a small discount on new accounts:

Then you see a product you really like, add it to your cart thinking it's a good deal (take note: product is in stock and no restrictions apply):

Only to be met with this message:

I tested around 10 or 12 addresses across the country, most in the bigger metros, and experimented with toggling between business and residential options but I was unable to get past this error.

That, coupled with the requirement for an ID number upon registering, is really off-putting and I can only think that it will hinder their entrance into the market (along with their prices).

If they removed that silly ID number request from their registration form they'd probably get a lot more signups.
I asked a contact over there, and the response was that they need it to confirm identity when delivering.

Why? Nobody else has this retarded requirement...

Regardless of that, their prices are crap and their "store front" is just unpleasant as well.

@Hanno Labuschagne - could you pretty please stop blind posting of prices and actually do some price comparison of the same product between the suppliers?
......

I don't know if this was coincidence or if @rpm actually reads the comments on some of the articles, but thanks, this was more informative than the previous article.

Everyshop and Makro are no included in my online shopping ... been like this for yonks now. Both have painful websites. Neither have customer experience in mind and cannot be taken seriously.

Everyshop search function is worse than Takealot, that takes some effort so well done on their part!
