Only names that "make us have nightmares" will be changed

How can the goverment be so ruthleslly efficient at changing names? South africa has MUCH bigger problems. I never hear them saying, "if it costs 2c or R100 million" we will eradicate crime.

But ofcourse its ANC logic once again. The names of streets and towns are top priority and unemployment, AIDS and crime are 'challenges' that we will hopefully someday meet. Makes you wanna bang you head against a wall.

Again all the ANC supporters are quiet. I would love to hear them defend this one.

Well this has been discussed already ad nauseum on this forum ... why some people feel the need to start a rather pointless discussion EVERY time a name of a place changes is rather beyond me.

Like SARS. Government knows how to efficiently take our money, but let's not ask for delivery of said services.

I think the point that needs clarity from this person who has nightmares, is how do they see that town's history and what role it played in Apartheid and/or their life, as I am confused here.
If the name Grahamstown is so offensive then what is the reason?
Perhaps said person should go see a psychologist and see what is really bugging them?

I'm not so sure - my Garmin is 3 months old and I cannot find the airport name on it.

The majority of ANC politicians are just down right incompetent. Its not a case of too much work, its a case of they don't know where to get started or how to proceed.
The majority of ANC leaders are ex-struggle cadres who lets face do not have experience in running a government. Even that wouldn't be an insurmountable problem if they hired the right people to do the work, but thanks to over zealous equity policies the right people are either the wrong colour or understandably taking advantage of far more lucrative offers from the private sector. Thats not even to mention nepotism.
So what you've got are a bunch of incompetent populists in power who are incapable of getting anything done and who have to worry about there future.

Ag shame hey tibbs. I don't know how an educated person could look at how fccked up the telecommunications sector is and still view this country with rose tinted glasses. Theres one mess that could have been sorted out expediently if the ANC were competent and willing.
And there we're talking about top management not some small town jokers.
 
Yeah tibby, the airport hey, another victim of our new national sport of name changes. It seems to me that only non-ANC members and supporters around here actually use their brains around here while you and Jozi101 blindly support crap like these name changes. Why dont you wake up and smell the Frisco, name changes do NOTHING for the upliftment of the SA public, it just gives the turds in government an excuse to feel all warm and fuzzy inside that they actually exercised their powa. :rolleyes:

The cardinal problem is here is that some of you simply don't respect people who don't look like you.

A few postings ago some stupid fool called Skinner called us baboons and NONE of you corrected or pointed him out except me.

How very sad.

It is clear to me the problem is not with the ANC or it's policies but YOUR attitudes and until you change it you all are going to be rather miserable about what is happening here.

The choice is yours.

Why do you feel that calling someone (white or black or brown) a "baboon", is racist? Maybe calling somebody that is simply a way of saying the person is a little below average when it comes to cognitive functions. There is really no reason to assume the worst in every little thing you read. You will always find something racist / sexist or any other "ist", if you do that, and that still won't change the facts of the matter. Just my opinion, use it, don't use it. You will have less stress if you stop being the racism police.

Hmm, I did not read anything racist into "babboon" - I have called people of all races "monkeys, baboons, asses, bitches and cows".

I do however try (and not always succeed, I will admit), in blatantly calling someone with whom I am debating "a stupid fool", as this is just a cheap shot.
