Only names that "make us have nightmares" will be changed

Hmmm .... now the question Comrades is ... am I being sarcastic or not ???.

It doesnt matter really :)
What does matter is will the new country be a place where all South Africans are equal irrespective of their sex or the colour of their skin?

You can call it what you want and fly any flag you like if it is.
;)

We can do what we like for in 100 years or so The Chinese will rename it something else anyway.
Zimbabwe > Ho Chi Zim - like that. :D

If you don't want to be called a baboon, don't act like one.
If you don't want to be called an idiot, display a measure of intelligence.

Furthermore I think you are too aggressive, towards people who you label as racists. Does that not make you a hypocrite if you do not have the time of day for this person to understand his feelings to try bring some sort of an understanding between you two? Instead you label him a racist and suggest he is shipped out the country. You sound like a Nazi.

I think anyone who supports name changes is inferior to me, in terms of intellect. Yes that means I think I'm a superior to you and I don't see you as my equal. You may have other virtues which are outstanding, some of which I don't have and I acknowledge that in turn.

Name changes are unlawful, for the following reason.
The municipality's first duty is to provide basic services to the community, as long as there are people without houses, proper schools, sanitation, they are not allowed to waste money on "luxuries".

You know I have been wanting to ask those things but in a very harsh way. Not personally to tibby or any forum members but to many of our so called rulers and others. However I just know it will be tossed aside or taken as insulting :( well then it just goes to show.

Baboons ???.

It is good that blantant racists like you are no longer infecting the rest of us ... those of you that feel the same way know where the airport is ... you are unwanted.
I don't want to turn this into an 'insulting the local wildlife debate' :D, but perhaps Tibby can explain (in detail) how "Baboon" can be a racist term.

Sigh ... at least get it right ... "Democratic People's Republic of Azania".
At least that silly design by commitee multi-coloured flag will be history then and the hammer and sickle can have it's proud place again.

Brilliant!:D l.ol.

Using that logic, (of names that give us nightmares can be changed) - can we ask Manto to change her name to 'Morbidly Obese Hopping Greasy Dwarf'?
And while we're at it - let's change Thabo's name as well, to 'Cuddles'. Maybe that'll make his policies more attractive.
"President Cuddles today shrugged off the daily death toll of 1200 people from AID'S, and accused the Media of not focusing on his new ballet shoes and his lovely rose garden, which he spent hours ordering gardeners around, to get just right."

I dunno man. The Peoples Popular Front For The Liberation of the Transvaal might have seized power and be flying the Vierkleur by then!

I felt like it was me talking there at times. :)

Actually a very good video insight into an "average" view of a young white South African.
I hope people overseas will get the gist of it. South Africa is not an easy place to understand, especially the history before Apartheid which is not known and overlooked in favour for more popular and recent "struggle" history.

How can a name-change possibly cost that much - replacing some signs and some names on a computer seems like a 5-minute job to me...

They should outsource the process to China and they can have name-changes for R20 a pop... change 1 million names and receive a 10% discount... :)

You obviously haven't factored in the cost of all the massive launch parties, catering for the comittees, etc etc etc that will inevitably have to take place.

not to mention the X5 that used to drive on the street whose name gave me nightmares and must now be replaced for one that does not bear the taint of oppression.
