How can a name-change possibly cost that much - replacing some signs and some names on a computer seems like a 5-minute job to me...
They should outsource the process to China and they can have name-changes for R20 a pop... change 1 million names and receive a 10% discount...

Does skin colour predetermine political association and viewpoints? If you were white and supported name changes, I would still want to call you a baboon, though not in public and in writing.
It is shameful that you want to see millions of rand wasted/lost on name changes, when people do not have housing, water, sanitation and medical access. Is the ANC better than the NP in those respects? Marginally, after 13 years nothing much has changed. Those people are still oppressed and you blab about on the internet how white people should change. I am involved in community service projects, in black townships, when was the last time you set foot in such a place? You seem to have no idea what those people are going through. I question whether or not you can see clearly the reality of RSA from your pedestal where you judge white people based on the colour of their skin. You are not a baboon, you are a racist.
Name changes are illegal, not constitutional, as such things can only be done once people do have their basic needs met - housing, water, sanitation and medical access. The ANC's modern constitution means nothing as they don't respect it, why should the people of this land respect it and the rights it gives each citizen? Our constitution makes it legal to discriminate against whites and in so doing oppress white people. I think the constitution is a piece of propaganda and should be pushed down the throat of the terrorists who are the ANC heroes of today.

Its the type of thinking that praises the "saving of R1000" on staff costs by hiring an inferior candidate - regardless of the hidden costs of that move.
It is so much more "visible" to change a name, than save the life of a few kids that no one would ever even know existed, had they not died.

I don't think they want to admit the danger, even to themselves. They both have a vested interest in the status quo.
They have themselves convinced that they are on the same side as the poor masses that are suffering and dying unnecessarily by their thousands every day. They aren't on the same side. They are on diametrically opposing sides. Even the white, right wingers in this country are more closely aligned with the poor, black masses of this country because they are both victims of the same system of oppression of which the likes of Tibby and Jozi are a part whether they believe it or not.

speaking as someone who was part of the struggle against apartheid, and who got drenched with teargas on numerous occasions at protests, went through secret police raids, had friends who turned out to be spies etc etc - as someone who personally went through this crap, in order to see a genuine non-racial society emerge in SA - I can't wait for the next revolution to reach critical mass and begin to operate against this current ANC government, who have clearly failed the majority of South Africans.
The next revolution is quietly gathering momentum - you can see it across SA, with the running battles and protests against privatization, and around the Landless Peoples movement.
Wait a while, the majority are slowly seeing that the ANC isn't the answer - at a critical point, I think we'll see a new counter-revolution begin to form, solidify and take shape, occurring spontaneously from the ranks of the majority population.
(Just like the original 'South African Native National Congress' began, way back at the start of the 20th century..)
Obviously there's a way to go, with increasing State censorship, control, increasing labels of 'terrorism' and 'extremism' and so on, that're gonna get used by the State - but it's just a matter of time before a serious coalition and movement emerges and spreads amongst the quietly unhappy and discontented majority - then the State will clamp down, and we'll see a replay of what we had from around 1970 - 1990, before the next movement takes power. I don't think the discontent has reached 'critical mass' yet.. so it's all going to get quite a lot more miserable first, before this begins in earnest..
History repeats itself, always.
