More competition. I wonder if all these companies did their planning correctly if Showmax says they will only start making money in 2019. Altech already learnt this the hard way. I doubt the SA market can sustain 5 or 6 different VOD services.

Most people who will use VOD services already have Netflix and or Hulu.

Good streaming services are generally complementary to each other. i.e you have both Netflix and Hulu and ShowMax, as they all offer different value propositions. Sports would be a good value add. Not sure what this adds

Maybe. HBO is quite a big drawcard. Not sure what they will offer that will be compelling for people. Maybe sports?
