Hi everyone. Why is no one mentioning the Opel OPC in this forum? :rolleyes:

i dunno.. might be the quickest ? isn't it speculated at 6.2 0-100 ? if it does that, it is F$%#in quick for that engine size.
 
Both the S3 and Mazda 6 are around 6.3 seconds ... Astra and Corsa are in the 7s :/
 
Oh I think I understand what he means ... fastest 2 wheel drive (as opposed to AWD or quattro).
 
i think by two wheel he meant either front wheel or rear wheel :P

In that case the Mazda 3 MPS is only front wheel drive and still sub-7 ...
 
Aren't the Mini and Seat faster? I recall a hot hatch shoot out in the last TopCar

Opel Corsa OPC - 1:35.29
Clio RenaultSport - 1:33.73
Ford Focus ST - 1:34.19
Seat Leon Cupra - 1:32.70
Mini JCW - 1:32.03

I guess for it's engine size the Corsa it's quite quick but for it's price and terrible bucket seats it's certainly not the best option.

These are from the November issue of TopCar which is well worth buying. Really enjoy the mag as it's not all facts and stats.

The Corsa is pretty slow actually ... must be pretty crappy around a track because straight line isn't too bad compared to some of those cars. Out of interest - what do Topcar get as a 0-100km/h or 1/4 mile?

The 1.6 litre turbo Corsa does :
0-100 - 7.77 seconds / 150.0km/h
1/4 Mile - 15.96

To put that into perspective the Leon Cupra does :
0-100 - 6.61 seconds
1/4 Mile - 14.87 / 161.9km/h

Performance aside, you have to look at the economical aspects of owning the car and I think the Cupra will probably end up costing you a lot more.
 
Funny ... when I first 'tested' the Corsa OPC and suggested it was near Golf GTI territory, I was told I was insane :P

At 7.77 even Topcar get it in Golf GTI territory and a fair amount quicker than Polo GTI.

I mean, notice the class cars it's tested with and how the Polo GTI isn't even included in that test ...
