OPC is the fasted two wheel (hot hatch segment)

I don't know why the S3 was included but here are some HH prices:

Corsa OPC: R238k
Polo GTI: R213600
Focus ST: R257250
Leon Cupra: R264k
Astra OPC: R313700 (Only the OPC+ is still sold)
Golf GTI: R276800
Mazda 3 MPS: R275900

The Corsa OPC is aimed @ competing in Baby Hothatch segment, i.e. The Polo GTI, Fiesta ST, etc.

Unfortunately it is a tad overpriced, but most dealers will give you a decent discount. I got mine for R5000 more than the Polo GTI retails at (which was peanuts for a better looking, far better performing, less common car). I had offers from other dealerships for as cheap as R209k (assuming you would settle for any other colour besides Arden blue...which I wouldn't :D )

The Golf GTI, Mazda 3 MPS, Cupra and Astra OPC were very similarly priced over a year ago (ie. all within the R220k-R260k mark) and made up the normal Hothatch segment.

Ok, I looked up some 0 - 200 stats and some interesting info... everybody keeps raving about 0 - 100 but I say the new standard should be 0 - 200...

Corsa OPC: 35.1s
Focus ST: 27.6s
Leon Cupra: 27.6s
S3: 23.2s
Polo GTI: 42.1s

Would be great if we can compare some more cars...

I find that hard to believe.... 42 seconds? If anything 1st and second are not so strong imo but 3 and 4?? Both gears are powerful, Ill try and and get a reading sometime.

The Leon Cupra is a machine, you can try whatever you want in terms of stats, the Cupra will beat you ST Guy....

Wow, they certainly are trying to take us for a ride in SA :p

But out of all those options the ST is the best option IMO, Top Gear agrees, best all round and it's NA, I don't like Turbo's for more reasons than just reliability.

Agree with you ... but (as you know), performance wise it slaughters the ST and Polo GTI ;)

Yes it does. But it only came out recently, so the bench mark was set already, Both the ST and PGTi will have new bodies and engines, hopefully better.
VW should really start making their top of the range cars look different ie: wider arches etc, changing grills, lights, mags and suspension wont work in these segments anymore...

I only listed those mentioned above, go check fastestlaps.com, when I spoke to some of the guys, they only use data they got from tests, but if you can give them proof that you did a better time with a stock car they will update it.

Found the Golf GTI Mk5 has a 0 - 200 of 33.8s

I'm sure if this was not the DSG version, if not, I'm certain it'll shave of a few seconds.

Those two times seem fishy to me ...

Civic Type R being only 0.2 seconds behind the ST ... ?

According to real world data, somebody managed it :P although some people are struggling to believe, other state they only managed a 17.7s which I think might be more correct... but I'm trying to investigate this...

I've seen a friend of mine make a sub 7s 0 - 100 km/h with a 1600 civic... I was truly amazed...

Yup - 17.7 is alot more believable !

Does it mention coastal or reef?

I'm going to assume it to be coastal, as around the world I think we in the highveld are of the few people around the world with such altitudes...

I'd assume so too ....

See - not everything I post is anti ST ;)

I initially thought that - but checking the discounts ... I think it's quitea bit more attractive ;)

The discounts will only continue as long as they are not really selling...
That doesn't change the fact that you can pick one up now for a decent price (i.e. what they should have been going for from the beginning.)

If everybody catches on and sales pick up then obviously the price will climb back up. Economics 101 ;)

ST is a 2.5 Turbo!
