OPC is the fasted two wheel (hot hatch segment)

Funny ... when I first 'tested' the Corsa OPC and suggested it was near Golf GTI territory, I was told I was insane :P

At 7.77 even Topcar get it in Golf GTI territory and a fair amount quicker than Polo GTI.

I mean, notice the class cars it's tested with and how the Polo GTI isn't even included in that test ...

*baits JK8*

Yip PGti is underpowered... doesnt matter to much.

The Clio came first, Seat Ibiza second and the Opel last...
Wasnt the Opel slapped on the wrists for using high octane boosters on test cats?

Astra OPC is quick ... I think ahead of the GTI and ST - but behind the S3 and MPS.

Slots iun pretty comfortably ;)

We're talking speeds only ;)

And the Mazda 6 MPS is AWD too ....

Ok, I looked up some 0 - 200 stats and some interesting info... everybody keeps raving about 0 - 100 but I say the new standard should be 0 - 200...

Corsa OPC: 35.1s
Focus ST: 27.6s
Leon Cupra: 27.6s
S3: 23.2s
Polo GTI: 42.1s

Would be great if we can compare some more cars...

Um.

I've never quite understood this .... so because it's great in one area, we discard the rea's it fails at and look at another area it excels at?

Dolby what are you on about:confused:

I'm not using a specific car to 'pick on', but car A is slower than car B in 0-60, 0-80, 0-100, 0-120 and slower in the 0-140km/h.

All the car B supports will select the 'band' in which in is the faster :/

Dolby you are on your own:rolleyes:

hehe ... let me give a real scenario then :

I went to the ST forum and brought up the fact the Focus ST and GTI were very marginal to 100km/h - and was told to view the 1/4 mile where it's a larger difference with the Focus ST being more powerful. I was told 0-100km/h is not realistic!

Then I compared the 1/4 mile of the Fiesta ST and RunX RSI and pointed out they were extremly close - I was then told to look at 0-100km/h because the Fiesta ST blasts from standstill.

Now if we look at the above figures, 0-200kmh is chosen - probably because it is a fair distance ahead of the other cars (Audi S3 aside) at that speed.

Just very bias, that's all ;)

So the performance measure is chosen, depending on where the car is.

I'm confused is the Corsa OPC in the same price category as the:

Focus ST
Leon Cupra
S3
Polo GTI

I was under the impression the Astra OPC was meant for that category? Especially considering it's more at home with the 2L 16v Turbo than the Corsa 1.6L 16v Turbo.

Think the Corsa is a better rounded package tho, the Astra like some previous Opel's (IE. 200TS) was a bit overpowered compared to what the car can handle.

That's still what makes a Opel a proper Opel tho, overpowered engine in a small car :p I just love that wheels spin and torque steer when you pull away!

I don't know why the S3 was included but here are some HH prices:

Corsa OPC: R238k
Polo GTI: R213600
Focus ST: R257250
Leon Cupra: R264k
Astra OPC: R313700 (Only the OPC+ is still sold)
Golf GTI: R276800
Mazda 3 MPS: R275900
