Open letter to iBurst

I have to weigh in from America here...

To Whom It May Concern at IBurst

Please note that despite your computer saying I was using your product
in February this year (see your email below) - its pretty weird trying to bill someone
when they've been out of South Africa for years, and obviously could not be
using your product.

Furthermore, handing over this stupid mistake on IBurst's Accounts Dpt part,
to some company for legal action - is just increasing the wastefulness of this exercise.

a) I'm not in South Africa, and haven't been for a looong time.

b) Iburst sent me a monthly bill in Feb this year.

c) Out of courtesy, I bothered to reply and explain that I'm based in the US now and have been since long before the alleged bill.

d) Iburst then gets even more stupid - and wastes the time of some SA collection agency.

e) Can someone with some business sense at IBurst please sort this out.

f) If IBurst thinks that I am lying and WAS using their product this year - then please use
your data-mining facilities to check my name against airport overseas departures in April 2006, and note that there's no return flight listed :P

g) case closed. Unless someone wants my US cellphone number to pester me further.

regards

To whom it may concern

Given that

a) I haven't been in South Africa since 2006.

b) I therefore, obviously don't have IBurst - and have not been using your services.

So please update your records, so as not to waste anyone's time.

best wishes

Shaun, if you're reading this - help :) (Ultimately I don't care - because, as the email says, I'm not even in SA, but its just so dumb and wasteful on IBursts' part...

Hi there

Please let me intercede and facilitate an outcome.

Would you mind?

If ok with you please e-mail me all the detail regarding this issue.

Thank you

Hi Lonegunman

Please mail me any detail so that I can find your account.

Thanks

Glad to see Shaun is on top of things.

Shaun's actually booked of sick but clearly has his iBurst modem and laptop in bed with him. Pervert....

Just as general feedback, we are slowly working our way through these queries and are using each one to check where things broke and why. I'm not for doing a 'quick-fix' that will just come back and haunt all of us at some point in the future.

Rather, we're doing a full post-mortem on each so as to kill it (and other similar cases) properly.

I know it's a pain for all of us, but as I said before, this way we'll actually eat the elephant.

The first dry run of the new billing system I alluded to before will start this weekend. You'll remember I posted on the 1st of July it should happen in about 6 weeks and we are here now.

This system will not only fix many of the system issues seen up to now, but will also solve world hunger and stop global warming. Or so I'm told. Let's see.

Will keep you posted.

Me, pervert, never, slightly kinky, maybe.

Just keeping our clients happy!:)

I got iburst before it first launched. It worked quite well. Then the day of the launch it stopped working. After numerous visits to Iburst head office and communications between myself Shawn Green and Mary Ann Jansen nothing was ever resolved. There internet solution never ever worked. The account was supposed to be cancelled and they were supposed to pick up their equipment. I have been blacklisted by iburst so-called debt collectors and have been told i owe them R21000.00 for a service that i could never use.
My word of warning to anybody that uses iburst or thinking of using iburst. There promises are empty their service is pathetic and after telling you that everything has been sorted out and the account is cancelled. You receive letters from companies collecting money for them.

Goeie genugtig! 21 000 Z-A-R. And the legal fees? How much is that? And credit lost? Money-making opportunities lost? Reputation lost?

Hi Lonegunman

This amount outstanding is for 2005.

This amount is valid.

This unfortunately I cannot assist with. The bill is clear. I will mail the account to you for your perusal.

Thanks

Good luck Jannie with the "inherited" shortfalls. I must say that it is extremely rare to get a person in such a senior postion in a company to come forward and converse with clients so openly. I am very happy you are at the helm. I would have to say by all the posts and threads regarding iBurst, you (iBurst as a company) are definately striving to rectify and improve perfomance within your departments. Having Shaun around is probably the first best thing iBurst ever did (other than release us from Telkoms stranglehold!) - hint - promotion or increase in order !!!

Other than that, I have had iBurst the second it was available in Pinetown, and have been loving it! Yes it is somewhat expensive in todays terms, but sometimes the positives far out weigh the negatives. Personally, between myself and my family, we have 4 different accounts and have never had any problems in accounts handling! I think a big up is needed to our Re-seller ISP (Tradepage), they always answer their phone immediatly and help whenever we had any issues (well truthfully if they didn't we would put the pressure on - our holding company owns their premisis - he he !!)

So heres looking forward to good things and better times...
