OpenLeaks here soon

Former WikiLeaks supporters at odds with founder Julian Assange will shortly launch OpenLeaks, a rival project aiming to get secret documents directly to media, one of them said Friday.
 
So why would anyone (other than a whistleblower) go to the site? And how would the site be funded? Do they intend selling the documents?
 
Sounds like a complete fail to me. Seems as if they are trying to monetize whistle-blowing, by acting as an unnecessary middle-man.

Wikileaks is already a proven success, and they have around 1100 mirriors all over the world.

Also, what a stupid name - OpenLeaks - when in fact it is a completely closed off system.

Um, that is exactly how Wikileaks operates their finances. If they could do it successfully why can't anyone else?

Not sure what you mean by a closed off system??? The premise is exactly the same as Wikileaks, except they want to run it on a more professional, unbiased basis (i.e. keep any one person from dominating the organisation).

But if they are not going to publish the leaks on their own website, why would anyone other than a whistle-blower visit them and donate? This is not how Wikileaks operates. Wikileaks has a huge wealth of content on their site for journalists, researchers and any other interested party to freely use.

As for one person dominating. If it had been my brainchild, and my life at risk, I too would decide how it is run and I too would dominate it. I wouldn't be handing over control to a sub-committee or a Domscheit-Berg.

And if I was a whistle-blower, I know who I would rather entrust my information to.
 
have they made it clear how one becomes "partner media"?
