Good day fellow forum users
I need some serious advice from people with expert knowledge in Fibre networks, especially GPON that Openserve uses.
Now, I live in Robertson in the Western-Cape, postal code 6705.
We have a relative new Openserve Fibre network here. I was only recently connected on the 28th of March. They are still expanding their reach in Robertson as can be seen from the Openserve Coverage Map.
My problem originally stemmed from 20:00 till about 21:15. My ping on speedtest.net or any other testing method shot up to 45ms from 5.85-6.5ms and stayed there for that period. Speed was totally unaffected. That really didn't bothered that much at all. But as time progressed the time frame got earlier: 18:00 till about 23:15 - 23:30 and speeds are now severely affected. I never had problems during the day even weekends during the day till 18:00 neared.
Here is my benchmark I'm testing against, this is when my connection performs optimal:

Now from yesterday (Saturday) from about 13:00 this started happening again, the first time ever during the day and today (Sunday) from 15:00. This is a first. Look at my results:

So at 21:49 I had 2.84Mbps on a 200Mbps fibre line

As time progressed from 01:52 PM it only got worse where my line performed worse than my 10Mbps ADSL line I had.
Pinging bras.afrihost.com revealed this:

Simple traceroute to google.co.za:

Okay, now for everybody asking, the problem is not with Afrihost, I have tested with multiple accounts including: Cool Ideas, Openserve test account, WebAfrica etc.
I have another friend also with Openserve that lives at the other side of town, the problems I am experiencing is also mirrored at his side.
As I understand, Openserve uses a 32:1 split ratio on it's PON splitters. That splitter is then connected to one of the OLT ports at the exchange that can handle 2.5Gbps down and 1.2Gbps up. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have many things to learn.
Could it be that I'm connected to a splitter with too many subscribers with fast lines that overwhelms my OLT port I'm connected to?
Or could it be just plain Exchange congestion getting worse and worse with more people subscribing to fibre?
This really can't go on like this.
I just want to applaud @AfriNatic for always replying promptly even on weekends and trying his best to help me. Really a great guy!!
I'm just curious trying to figure out what the problem potentially could be.
And no, I don't have to reboot my ONT for this to rectify itself, first it does not help and secondly it spontaneously just get back to normal. All tests were performed on Ethernet and not Wi-fi.
Thanks in advance!
