Hi All,

Openserve contractors installed fibre in our building over a month ago. (Musgrave Road, Durban)
Technicians told us that we would be live with 2 weeks.
Its not been 6 weeks and still no fibre active.
When we check the coverage map on the openserve website it shows our property is not active as yet.

is this process normal? doesnt seem so.

Can anyone assist?

There could be some delays either with the build itself or the node that needs to be changed to accommodate the extra areas.

There is also some cases where the map hasn't updated yet but Openserve is progressing the orders for installation. I have noticed this in Bulwer where the map shows pre order but the orders are progressing to installation.

Hi,

They installed a new box outside our building, even though the switch on musgrave avenue had sufficient space for our lines.

We have the opposite issue here in our building, its installed but ISPs are rejecting the application as openserve have not activated the site yet.

Did you place an order with an ISP yet?

When the area is on pre order status Openserve does accept orders for the address.

You talking about me  But yes, I am still in pre order on the map but have been live since last Monday. The coverage map is not entirely accurate so don't rely on it but they are rolling out very fast in Durban lately.

I'd suggest just placing your order with your ISP and waiting since that's what I needed to do. I was also informed that we'd be live within 2 weeks but it ended up taking about 6 from the build to the actual install within my apartment. I'm in Glenwood/Bulwer. Also, the contractors talk a lot of crap to entice sales on Telkom as an ISP, especially if you have the same contractors as I did, which I expect you do. They're still pestering me to sign up with Telkom

Placed a pre order with multiple isps several times. All come back saying "fibre services are not available in your area at this time, openserve asked us to cancel this order" or something to that effect.

when i send them a picture of the installed boxes on site. they seem to not know why and suggest i query with the installers. When i do, they tell me they have signed off on everything.

so now we stuck in limbo. I understand the whole rapid deployment of fibre in berea. We are one of 2 buildings without fibre in our area of musgrave road. pathetic of the contractors to bypass us when they initially installed 3 years ago on our road.

If you placed an order with us please pm me your email address so I can have a look and see where we at with the order and the status of the address.
