Openserve ONT Ethernet Ports

Just to add to this, my understanding is that since you cancel a service the B-Number is moved in to a holding pool for 7 days.
from which the new service can take it from there.

The Openserve holding pool has been in place from back in the DSL days.

So usually when trying to migrate these trial B numbers theyw ere stuck as being active with Telkom ISP so we just placed new installs.

@Afrigirl and myself did a test now and we can see this has been reworked by Openserve. The 30 days free trials are now under OpenserveApp ISP and they made it that all ISPs has access to view and make changes to these B numbers so once the trial ends ISPs now have the option to simply "change service" to convert it to web connect or fibre connect and then it moves the line to the ISP with no downtime.
 
Wow thats amazing, I did the free trail for my folks when they did the install was a pain to get it up and running after the trial.
They have zero signal at their place, so no fibre no outside contact.

On that note they are currently on CISP, but want to move them across to AH at some stage, I'm I correct in seeing something that you can provision and second port on the ONT with a different ISP so you don't have downtime when changing ISP.
Don't want them to be completely isolated during the change over?

They will not enable two ports with two different B numbers and ISP's.

Hi.

If I am understanding correctly, there are now on Openserve Fibre Connect with CISP. If that's the case, you don't have to worry about downtime, we can provide you with a test account as soon as the cancellations is processed, while we wait for the line to be released. We just ensure that the order with Openserve is placed during the 14 day period (holding pool) to avoid your line being ceased.

Moved to Afrihost/ Openserve unfortunately that was not the case.
If the latency is still in the 19's 20's, what I did was have @Afrigirl open a ticket with OS so a tech can come out.

Showed him the two differences between home and work with the latency and they sorted it out.

Herotel tracert. with a route length of 1250km. Much longer trace route than afrihost yet lower ping. Looks like Herotel has a better network trace of uses a much better backbone network.

Usually means one of a few things, backhaul from the FNO to Afrihost is being diverted due to a fault/congestion etc.

This doesn't make an ISP any better or worse as it's outside of their control. It's just random backhaul routes in use.

Or Herotel has a CDN nearby :)

I understand. Thank you for the reply. Might be the CDN. But also noticed that my game latency is also lower on Herotel. Still not bad on Afrihost/ Openserve. Still enjoy the 500mbps line as to where Herotel can not provide it to me. Just the ping that is a pity. If the have a CDN nearby. If one look at the ping traveled on the virtual trace route. One can se that Herotel uses a much longer route than Afrihost yet it has lower ping. Just interesting to see.

this seems to be related to filtering appliances on some networks. i've noticed this on vodacom and afrihost, but on vox I get 3ms and no filtering
