It's totally different than 11.1 (and, keep in mind I used KDE 3.x).

KDE 4.x is totally different. Totally.

Takes a while to get yourself sorted out.

But it seems that they sorted the bugs out, so far it's stable.

Will take a little while to get sorted out.

And I'm pleased to report that it kicks Vista in the ganoonies regarding performance and eyecandy :D

How does it compare to XP performance wise?

I'm thinking of installing my first full time Linux distro and, I dunno, I like the sound of OpenSuSE.

Put it this way - Dell Inspiron 520 laptop runs OpenSuSE just fine without any drama - but Vista will really struggle on this laptop.

Performance wise between WindowsXP and OpenSuSE - they all feel about the same, except SuSE's got compiz eyecandy :D

11.2 do feel faster than 11.1, but I really haven't been pushing it yet.

That's what I like about it:D

How does SuSE compare to Ubuntu as far as user friendliness goes? I don't want Ubuntu (that's for Linux n00bs:p) but I also don't want to spend all my time searching the internet for help:o

Depends on what you want to do.

Most of the time you can just install a piece of software via Yast, and not having to worry about other things. (which is what I like about SuSE - no need to hunt over the Internet for some arcane settings).

Only time I'll google is when I'm looking for software or configuration options.

In general 11.2 just feels faster than 11.1

For example, when you wanted to change some settigns with Yast, and changed your mind then 11.1's Yast took a while to close down. With 11.2 it's quicker.

Also, when I installed Skype on 11.1 it took a minute or so, and you could see the progress.

When I installed it on 11.2 this morning, the installer never opened. I retried the install, thinking that the installer bombed out, and was amazed to find that it was already installed.

Overall system responsiveness is GREAT, even with compiz enabled. 11.1 still lagged with some operations, but 11.2 just breeze through them all. :D

OpenSUSE 11.2 is just beatiful. I love the eyecandy and the quick response of everything. Most things seem to work out of the box.

openSuse's (and all the rpm based distros I've used it seems) package management has always sucked for me.

Has it gotten any better? i.e is it fast and does it dependency issues (if I wanna install something get all the dependencies and mark them for installation dammit! And tell me about any conflicts then, not when I click the damn install button)?
