Openweb 4 Mbps after-hours uncapped ADSL

I would not mind trying a 512k on this, seeing as though you cant really do much during working hours , but uncapped and unshapped might work well for some people. I must congratulate them on at least trying . Only thing i have a problem with is proxy servers which some might require you to use . I am sure a few people will try this out, let us know the results . Also let us know how much damage you can do after hours..

this socalled uncapped after hours, but hard capped at 10gb is not true uncapped, no matter how you spin it! Shame on you Keoma!

these accounts need to get a new name, one that excludes the word Uncapped!!! why not call it a "T&S" account? throttled and shaped account

What throttling and shaping are you referring to? Or do you start your weekend partying early on a Friday?

Well done to Openweb for trying to accommodate their clients needs.Very tempted as I only download during those times anyway.

For R139 more you get shaped uncapped from MWEB 24/7.

Why would any one want this product? 10GB during the day and a shaped uncapped account after hours just to save R139.

Am I not seeing straight? Please explain how this product would be of interest or of value to you?

The mweb account is shaped during the day as well. using "legal" methods to download during those periods (excluding http downloads) will probably net you less than 10GB <month. I will happily grab this one should mweb give me one more ounce of crap..

After hours shaped. How shaped?

Since the account stops working after 10Gb has been used in peak hours, it cannot be called uncapped.

So basically it is the Sainet after hours account but costs R399 instead of R295 and has R89 topups instead of R29. No thanks

Agree. Sorry OpenWeb, I usually like you guys but Sainet had this offer out for a long time already and most people I know with it is happy. The cash difference can be the cost of an astraweb / newdemon account

If you are a heavy user, then the Mweb product will be a problem as you will get stuck with their usage policies. So this product seems to be perfect for that... just don't use it much in the day.

I use the Axxess uncapped express for R999 per month, this new Openweb one has me drooling.

Being in the same situation I would tend to agree... except for me I don't use my express account for anything else except 24/7/365 torrents. It will be a pain for me to stop the downloads at the correct time as I often just leave them going day in and day out. So I would kill my account soon by forgetting to stop the downloads during the day (or being too lazy to).

what torrent app do you use? does it not have a scheduler?

All I want to do is cry.......why must everything be so complicated :(

Every ISP is trying to come up with a worse offering than the next.

Will there be a montly usage limit here, measured on your after hour usage?

Another POS service where you have to track your online habits.

I use uTorrent. If I used a schedular and was on the openweb product, I would lose out on a lot of downloading.
The Axxess product doesn't play fair :-) If often starts an hour or two earlier, and can sometimes go beyond its scheduled cut off time. Also I get a constant 15 to 25KB download during the day before the full speed kicks in.

I see that most people feel this product is not worth it, but you have to consider the market. There are many people who would find this product perfect. The thing you must not forget is that the day-time shaping on uncapped accounts is really bad. Not just that but the speed you get is also lower than advertised. It is simply a policy issue. Most ISP's will admit that capped packages generally gets higher speeds on a more regular basis. We are using the MWeb uncapped package and i immediately felt the drop in speed from my previous capped Afrihost account. In fact, i am planning on going back to a capped account.

An offer like this could be very appealing. It gives you the speed and reliability of a capped package during business hours, while still offering uncapped freedom when the demand is lower. Also, i don't think they should be lambasted for starting only at 8 - i would have suggested 7, but "outside of work hours" i s a very loose term. So i don't think this is a basis for an attack on the offer. At least they are pioneering, coming up with solutions that seek to meet the needs of the users. And all anyone does is complain.... If this was R100 cheaper, i would have taken it.

How would throwing a bone to one of the most legendary CEO's in the ISP business assist you with the daunting task of growing a brain. Oh darn, it won't. Flies don't have brains!

Nice product MrBeeps. At least you have some creativity.

Shame, Keoma is desperate...throw him a bone.

Legendary??? He is an IS reseller??? You don't have to have brains to do that... All you need is to apply to IS, create a website and start selling. I think an ADSL reseller in the year 2010 can hardly even touch what started in ZA by Ronnie Apteker and co.

Oh and I agree, Openweb comes up with new product every week which just manipulates the IS model

I got a 30gig mybroadband webafrica account for R199. I think im going to take this and use it together with the WA account. Gives me 40gigs daytime usage and "unlimited" at night.
