OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

@Cableguy, had router drop internet connection last night a few times. Reset router, found connection, then dropped. When it was connected the speed was non exsistent. Seems like it is more stable this morning. Any hassles last night that you know of?

Hi Wasp,

There were quite a few Telkom network faults last night across the country. Our notice mailbox read something like 120+.

Other than that, there were no general issues on the network.

What do your line stats look like at night? Connections don't just usually drop out of the blue, it may be line related and wouldn't hurt to check.

Anyone else having browsing issues during the day?

On openweb king gamer, during working hours im shaped so badly that i have to change account to even search on google. I know another friend is having the same issue. Ive asked openweb about this before and they said they arent shaping at all, sure as hell feels like thats a lie.

Having authentication problems atm with both my Openweb and Afrihost test accounts. Axxess lists a problem in the southern and eastern sections of the country in terms of capacity or something that Telkom is working on fixing. They give a date of 18 April for it to be fixed by. So anyone having problems in those areas can have Telkom to blame as per usual.

I am busy blaming the crap out of them atm.

I have the same issues. Also gamer king account. Browser is better now but earlier was almost impossible. YouTube unable to stream at 360p.

Also on gamers king account, browsing is fine and games as well, only downloading in the day is bad, I'm getting around 30kb/s at this moment on a 2mb line. Guessing its normal shaping?.

Any shaping going on atm? Speedtest only gives up to 1Mbps on my 4Mbps Gold account. Youtube is streaming at about 60KB/s.

Well thats a change of heart. In the past, OW would suggest speed tests were inaccurate and not a good measure to use?

Had the same with a gamers account. I know Leon did a route change and that made browsing during the day better.

Hehe, of course, we've shown that it is 100% accurate. Even one of the biggest supporters who would always quote "IS user stats is inaccurate" when people were asking questions, finally agreed that they are accurate.

But this didn't seem to mean much to them.

IS user stats is blocked now, but SAIX still works - and it's still possible to pick up account sharing, though not as easy as IS.

My conspiracy theory is that all IS resellers use the Star system - no exception.
