OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

I'm convinced this is a Telkom Problem, but let me post it anyway (on a 4Mbps line).
Code:
Download Speed: 658 kbps (82.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 490 kbps (61.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 204 ms

I decided to up/downgrade to a capped account, but nights and weekends are terrible. It is the inverse of what I had with uncapped.

Traceroute (hack me, I'm too lazy to censor out my IP address)

I'm really beginning to think that ADSL is not an option for me any more. Trying to contact @TelkomZA on Twitter has been like talking to a brick wall for me. Let's not even get into phoning Telkom.

I'm new to Twitter even though I registered more than 4 years ago, but I'm still not sure how it works. I click on the "quill icon" and start my message with "@TelkomZA". Am I doing something wrong?

You are doing it right.

Quickest response is for you to complain on HelloPeter.

Did this scan after an e-mail from Mcafee on openweb.co.za - are the admins aware of this?

Well seeing that the Openweb home page doesn't use SSL, I'm surprised that the tool worked at all.

You should test the client area:

Vulnerability Not Detected : mastercp.openweb.co.za

You did know McAfee AV software is an information gathering program and not an anti-virus program?

Why do you think the US government was looking for John McAfee?

Openweb Titan shaping is so severe that I cannot even WhatsApp since 12:30. Other HTTP/S seem to run at around 640Kb/s.

EDIT: Just got a message though at 15:45

Yep, very severe shaping on anything other than http, and even that is in bursts.
NNTP crawling at less than 5kb; should speed up after 6pm... me hopes

Network is slow tonight cant watch youtube buffers on 144p on 2MB line

+1.

Although a router reset seemed to have done the trick. Getting reasonable speed on NNTP and no odd buffering on YouTube.

Edit: did a router reset 5 minutes ago and speeds are still keeping strong. Might be coincidence but worth a try nonetheless. Prior to that, services seemed shaped.

Still slow :(

Really slow for me as well. Dial up speeds pretty much 4-5 kB/s Been like this all day.

Using a [email protected] account on the original gold network {through with speeds like these I don't know why i bother, it's not like a slower package could be any worse}.
