OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

So to the clever people on here, when would be a good time to hand in the cancellation notice? I don't mind paying for the extra month because my service has been perfect, I just don't like the moves they have taken on the forum. I am thinking Afrihost or Axxess as my next ISP...

Sigh..... Please girls get a room!!!!

You're already in it and you seem to be the only girl.

Any time before the 25th. But who knows how long it'll take them to acknowledge your cancellation, might be after the 25th, so just do it now. Axxess sell the same business unshaped accounts for a fair bit less, maybe consider this.

Another joke;
OpenWeb CEO Keoma Wright has warned unsuspecting consumers to read the fine print before signing any ADSL contract. “What many ISPs advertise as unshaped more than likely comes with a complicated, draconian style fair usage policy hidden deep within the realms of their terms of service.”

LOL. The exact draconian style AUP he implements on his own network and then lies when asked about it...

Since sending my cancellation last week, a/h is flying at full line speed,.
Daytime is doable at 50kb max throughput, but it's up and down like a wh0r3s drawers... frequent disconnects (seemingly), speeds ranging between 0kb and 50kb... not stable at all!

As for Openweb retreating from MyBB...well that just proves a point without actually admitting to the truth.

That said, it must be a first for a company to retreat like this from a support channel as popular as MyBB.

It's a shame they ran away from the forums. It indicates to me that things are either not going to get much better or are about to get much worse.

This does not look good for OW at all. A sure way of losing more clients.

This is sad news. Doesn't look like I'm going to be getting a new package with them either next month, not having a forum presence is a real deal-breaker for me.

Well if you really need to voice a problem you have, just take it to Hellopeter, that is the one other place where they won't be able to just delete posts/comments. That and regular Joe and Jane will also go look up posts there hopefully before signing up with a company selling accounts more than once.

Not really. MyBB actually makes out a miniscule portion of their total userbase and they know this. That's why they have no issue with simply snubbing us like this.
Very likely, I am with you on that.
Not lekker having to pay double this month and next month for ADSL, thanks to his bull**** cancellation period.
But ja, the speeds and latencies I get now, I really think every one needs to get their heads out the sand and try another ISP, even AH on a business package is pretty good I believe.

OW went too far by throttling things like GMail and Apple Appstore and iTunes stuff most of the time.
Email FFS... how is e-mail going to download a freaking torrent!!!!

I think OW is even farther gone than Cybersmart.

Well I am looking at changing ISP's because of this. While the forum is a small part of their customer base, the way they have handled matters on here does not give me a lot of confidence. Plus I never really like IS anyway...

OW doesn't even respond to complaints put up on HelloPeter.
Now they just treating MyBB with the same disregard.

This whole disappearing act reminds me of the John McAfee incident...

Does anyone know for sure what fair-usage policies are like on Afrihost/Axxess accounts? Combined at home we do around 300GB per month on a 4mb line.. would that kick in their throttling or whatever else they use? Or is that considered ok for a 4mb line?

I don't want to go ISP hopping, would prefer to know upfront what to expect before choosing a new ISP.

Also, we do downloading after-hours, but need internet to work for email, browsing, banking etc during the day. WIth Openweb its currently hit 'n miss. Today its ok, yesterday I couldn't even get Gmail to load.

I was with Axxess previously and never had throttling issues, pulled about 400gb on a 4mb line ;)

Also going back to them next month...
