OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Well I am looking at changing ISP's because of this. While the forum is a small part of their customer base, the way they have handled matters on here does not give me a lot of confidence.

I am totally with you on this one. Not very business-like!

If this doesn't bother people, I don't know what will. The company literally went radio silent.

OW doesn't even respond to complaints put up on HelloPeter.
Now they just treating MyBB with the same disregard.

This whole disappearing act reminds me of the John McAfee incident...

This is no longer an official channel of communication. You must email support to get any info.

The die-hards wont be affected at all, they will just email support, get a new account and be none the wiser.

Nevermind account sharing what about MyBB Profile sharing Mr Beep AKA Cableguy #BUSTED :D

Be Careful with these okes - Axxess uses a rolling threshold where they throttle your line during certain periods of the day if you go over the thresholds :

https://www.axxess.co.za/aup.php#toc11

that's what i'm trying to find out from someone who's used them.. is it a magic "never known" threshold like Mweb's, or is there a rought estimate of what the threshold is? I hardly download during the day's though, so even if there is some sort of throttling, I can make do with that as long as browsing and email actually work.

I think this is the most hits this blog has gotten since launch. I can't get over the fact that someone would write about themselves in 3rd person to blow their own whistle :p
Are you talking about doctor draconian?

I read that website... swak. I wouldn't even do that about myself.

Jeeeeeezus!
They're not even hiding the throttling anymore.
You know an ISP is circling the drain if they can't even prioritize HTTP traffic during the day...

And very strangely, my Openweb account is running full speed again on all protocols.

Why is the user experience so inconsistent with these guys?

Zewp: there is only one explanation.
I am seeing a trend with your comments, you say your line "unclogs" more or less the same time each day.
This means your account sharing friend either stops his torrent, or stops his streaming and goes out, or something like that.

No, but it's been running full speed on all protocols all day, since yesterday. That's what I find so strange. If it was being shared I would expect to see it dip every now and then, but it hasn't done that even once.

Well I have now had enough frustrations with OW and their shaping and, although I have to pay them until the end of June, I have decided to bite the bullet and have just signed with AH.

Maybe your line sharing friend is away, or actually at work today. Lots of people were on leave recently.

Dunno. I have to say, I doubt someone is sharing my account with me. This performance is actually in line with what I was used to over the past two years. It's only the last month that the account has been giving me issues.
