IMHO, I think the same thing will still happen in dishing out one-size-fits all accounts and calling them different things.

Maybe, how about this:

Home Uncapped (AND STATE SHAPING HOURS)
Hybrid Uncapped (capped unshaped during shaping hours - AND STATE SHAPING HOURS)
Business Uncapped

I would be happy with a 4MB shaped account during Business Hours with a 10MB unshaped A/H. Would have made my day!!

Have thrown my cancellation at them..

Will give them until the end of today to respond...

BOOM! Its done. Added ceo and admin in the cancellation email.

Now to watch my bank account so they don't take my monies.

:D:D:D:D

That was quick. just got my cancellation ref number.

Sent @ 16h46

Received ref number @ 16h47.

Now to see how the performance will be while waiting the cancellation out.

Mine is just getting worse and worse..

Past 4 days I have been getting horrible latency. 500ms from Port Elizabeth to George.
I've tried speaking to the support but their usual answer was "there is no problem from our side" even though telkom said they see no problem.

Im getting really frustrated with this.

I have actually been thinking about trying something else for a while now. I am currently looking at the 10Mbps combo at Axxess. It goes for R799 pm.

Currently on my 4Mbps gamers king account I pay R396 for the data and R275 for the line at Axxess. That means that an upgrade to 10Mbps will cost me only R120 or so extra pm, which isn't bad at all.

Just spoke to an Axxess consultant and he says that your account gets managed if you exceed the average usage. I do max 300GB per month and according to him I wouldn't be managed too badly. When they manage they also only limit downloads, which doesn't include streaming apparently, which is great. They don't have after hours or day periods either apparently, which means you get a speed according to how busy the network is and if you are managed or not.

I think I might give it a try. If it doesn't work well, I think I'll move to the Afrihost business 4Mbps account, which goes for R797 and is unshaped and unmetered.

With all the complaints and "theories" flying around, my internet has been mostly without fault the whole time. I do have some problems with inconsistent streaming though and it is becoming a larger part of my monthly usage. Even http downloads have been at acceptable speeds during the day.

With MrBEEP being AWOL, along with cableguy, resolving issues will be a much more tedious affair. Axxess has 24/7 telephonic support, which is a major bonus.

Anyone got contact details where I can submit my cancellation?

Been with OW hardly a month but the service is just too damn terrible. Already had to submit tickets twice this month to have my ADSL details reset because the account will just stop working out of the blue. And the rest of time the speed is so damn terrible. I get dial-up speeds until 5pm everyday, after which my speed will climb to a 384kbps line speed until at least 11pm the evening, and ONLY then will I get my 2mb line speed. This is EVERY day, even weekends. This is on a Gold (Power) account btw
I'm also not at any means a high end user. Only did around 40gigs this month so far if not less, with most of it done on my WA account.
Half of the time I end up using the WA account which I cancelled last month (Had to give a Calendar month notice so it's still active for this month) which runs a hell lot better.
Guess AH is next in line, will see how they operate. Or else back to WA with my tail between my legs. Thanks OW!
Again, if anyone can post OW's contact details, that will be appreciated. Their website gives hardly any options in the Client Control Panel.

the 4mbps are 697 not 797

also its a way better option than anyhome uncap
R797 is with line included.

It might be better, but that 10Mbps is calling me. If it doesn't perform properly, I'll just switch at the end of the month.

Also, I was with Axxess before coming to Openweb. Only moved when the change to the MTN backbone created lots of problems that took forever to get resolved. I am willing to give them a try again.
