OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

This will most likely be my second to last post in this thread. My last post will be when they stuff up my cancellation (uncancel my cancellation) or process a debit order without my consent (I requested and received written confirmation that the last debit order date was 1 June 2014).

I have no faith or trust in this company, and pending an unauthorized, thieving debit order from them next month, they (the company and its leaders) wont be seeing a penny from me ever again.

YAY, they didn't steal my money.
YAY, I'm rid of them.

Been using the new ISP from 4th June and have:
1. been able to use real-time services 24x7 (browse AND stream)
2. use "P2P" protocols such as BitTorrent and NNTP without any issues
3. received actual support from their support department, i.e. finding faults AND AND AND providing feedback AND a permanent solution
4. received the utmost level of transparency; if they have an issue on their side, they let you know; they don't deflect and point fingers towards others

I mailed them today with all the reference numbers and mails. And they banned me on their facebook page.

That's one of the reasons why you wont see them back here posting on MyBB (although we know that "they" lurk in the shadows, reading our posts like a dirty voyeur, seeing all the problems they've caused yet not willing to do anything about it); "they" don't have any authority to ignore/hide criticism and everyday issues.

Go to your bank and have the debit order reversed. That will spark OpenWeb into action very quickly. Take a printout of the email confirming the last debit order is on 1 June, just in case.

This is why debit orders are from the devil. Way too easy for companies to abuse them.

This will most likely be the only option, and unfortunately, alexjay (and others) is going to be out of pocket as debit order disputes does cost the customer. Try claiming that back from OpenWeb! I highly doubt that OpenWeb will ever transfer the funds back to the individual clients.

Anyhoo, methinks this thread will be dying very soon, although I would like to see how their service improves or degrades over the months to come and whether any new controversies are uncovered (let's face it, once you lie and BS en masse, you're going to have a difficult time not continuing).
Not that they will be seeing my business, or that of the other 8 subscribers that I support, ever again.

Interesting my debit order for openweb has not gone off , perhaps they have cancelled ahead of schedule which suits me fine :) .
And i have been banned from posting on their facebook page as wel after i left some snarky comments re their serice and product as well :) :) Good riddance now to look for a new service provider .

If there is a dispute regarding a debit order you have to follow a set process and procedure.

Your first recourse is to the party that raised the debit order ie with the party with whom the debit order was signed or the party that has submitted the debit order for collection to your bank. We will refer to this part as the service provider.

Only if this course of action has proved to be unsuccessful may you approach your bank. You have to sign a dispute from at your bank in which you set out the reason for the dispute.

To do so you will need the following documents:

1. Your SA bar-coded Identity Document;

2. Your bank account number;

3. Your bank statement if the disputed debit order appears on it; and

4. A copy of your debit order mandate and cancellation if applicable and available. This form is lodged with your bank which will investigate your compliant and revert to you.

I am willing to pay R4-50 for the reversal of the debit order with a smile, rather loosing R340-00.

Disputes are charged against the company doing the debit order, not the client. The client will be charged up to 185R per dispute depending on their banking partner.

Well I have emailed them asking them to refund me. Let's see how long they take to respond.

I just asked them to confirm my cancellation and they dont even have systems in place to see it.

I wonder if I can log a theft claim against them? Technically it is theft since they took money out of my account without my permission. Also I have a email proving that the last payment was at the start of June.

I wonder if SAPS will be able to find their office's... :P

Its a fraudulent transaction, report it to your bankings fraud department. So yes you can report it. Granted if you have all documentation to back it up. Report it to the ombudsman they love it.

ROFL

I sent Zelda a screen grab proofing that money was taken. Her response... I confirm your account has been cancelled at the end of June 2014. If any monies have been deducted from your account in error these will be refunded within 7 days.
If monies... Money has been taken. Not even an apology. I called the bank. They did the reversal. FNB informed me if openweb changes the amount or reference number, the debit order will go through. I mailed openweb to stop the debit order and provide a reference.

There's no regulation on charging an administration fee actually, so it is dependent on the bank.
Standard Bank, for example, does not charge a fee on a dispute, given that the claimant is proven right, otherwise the claimant may be charged up to R180. FNB charges on the same principle.
Capitec on the other hand, requires a R4.25 administration fee for disputes <40 days and R25 for disputes >40 days. IIRC Absa charged (note the past tense) on the same principle, but I'm not too sure nowadays; haven't banked with them in years.
