This is a difficult choice.

I would say the 20Mbps would be better, as the speed is nearly double. Although you will have a higher contention ratio, the 10Mbps extra speed will probably make up for it

MrBEEP, here is a scenario.
A customer has a 1k/pm budget for an account. He has the option of going 10Mbs Gold Orange or 20Mbs Everyday.
He has been an Openweb customer for nearly 2 years, does he benefit from the supposed reduced contention you mentioned in the original thread in early 2013?
Would the added priority of Gold level out the added 2x bandwidth pipe? Or would the higher contention make the experience deteriorate?

tl;dr
1k budget. 10Mbs Gold or 20Mbs Everyday.

Orange Gold, definitely!
thats what i am looking at

the everyday one for 299 its to cheap so wont be good for my needs (media streaming)
but the gold is alot for 6mbps
but if i remember right gold/gold orange give youtube exstra priority

so will see what my budget says :P
tobad thers no 6mbps power gold :(

Where is the evidence of Gold clients having a superior product? Without resorting to the "thousands of Gold clients who do not partake in this thread."

If Gold clients suffer equally during hours as other clients on lesser accounts, where is the superiority?

If Gold clients suffer more during hours than other clients on lesser accounts, where is the superiority?

If Gold clients and clients on lesser accounts generally become unshaped at 17h00 weekdays and on weekends, where is the superiority and benefit of having a Gold account?

Am I asking too much?

Please kindly answer the above questions in this thread. I do not see any circles, it is a direct question that needs an unvague answer. Please substantiate where the lower contention ratio and higher priority is witnessed.

From a customer service perspective, it will do a lot to keep many of your clients on this forum happy, who are doubting the value of their Gold accounts. Certainly more than evading the questions.

The contention ratio is around 80% higher. It does depend on how busy the Everyday class is though when you use it.

Example at midnight, it could be the same, as the network is not busy, but when peak arrives, this is when you will probably reach maximum contention

Is the contention ratio >100% higher?
 
My internet connection has never been quicker. Still a very happy customer...

a few hours ago my connection died. it simply disconnected. and i could not log in for hours. wrong password??? after a year!!! cannot connect. connection timed out.

Can you not expand further than "The fact is Gold gets priority on the network above cheaper products" which you keep telling us? I'm afraid you are the one going around in circles if this is the only answer you can provide. Are you simply unable to prove this to us?

My source of information is this very forum and posts, in their thousands, since September 2013. The fact that hundreds of Gold clients complain about poor daytime speeds and shaping, the fact that hundreds of people on lesser accounts don't have daytime problems and get better-than-Gold performance during hours. There is no consistency if this is the case.

I have even recommended OpenWeb Gold to friends, only to have them disappointed after a couple of months, and cancel.

And just because my source of information is thousands of posts on this forum over 6 months, does not mean that it doesn't apply to the non forum participating clients. I am not trying to account for ALL Gold clients, it's something I cannot do, but it's a damn good indicator. Why would ALL your other Gold clients be any different? What you are suggesting is that Gold problems are unique to MyBroadband members, which is absurd.

And quite honestly I don't think you could account for ALL your Gold subscribers either, since there is a strong chance that they only use their accounts after hours, and don't understand that they could go with a cheaper account for the same after hours performance. They think that Gold is giving them a better after hours experience, when lesser accounts also become unshaped after hours.

So, why Gold?

Prove to us how Gold accounts have superior performance? Please.

Unless you can provide some sort of clarification as to how Gold is better, I am afraid you are going to create alot of doubt here.

Thus is getting tedious. If you not happy with the product you have purchased then vote with your wallet. By the sounds of this you will only be satisfied by seeing beepies Crown Jewels. Are you doing research to start your own ISP?

If you need internet during the day and you don't have it I reckon it's a simple choice. If you not happy do something about it. Don't subject all of us to this crusade. What you doing now goes beyond merely giving feedback. Sounds like an interrogation.

I myself had a Gamersking and then a Gold account and did vote with my wallet after that. Still doesnt take away from the fact that i want to know the 'real' difference between gold and other products offered by Openweb. I am not anti openweb, infact i quite like openweb. I just wasnt happy and i am still not convinced on what Gold really entails.

Thank you for your contributions which you are more than entitled to, as we are ours. I have already cancelled, but I am still a client for the time being. This is not interrogation or a courthouse, there is no need for such exaggeration. Perhaps read the posts from yesterday morning, there are at least a dosen forumites asking for answers. As it stands, you're in the minority. But you're welcome to be as vocal about suppressing our questions as you like.

The proof is with the clients, Gold IS better than the lower tiers, it has a lower contention ratio and higher priority on the network. In the event of an outage, gold will get priority support. This has happened before and I was back online within minutes white others were stuck in the dark (last year's Seacom(?) incident)

If you feel this strongly about Gold being a scam, just cancel your account with OW. It's as easy as that. I'm a gold subscriber and find the performance perfect for me. I'm about to try out the Everyday uncapped tier too and I'm sure I will notice the difference. You keep asking for exact numbers when these cannot be publicly posted as stated by MrBEEP.
 
Im using a Gold account from 1 Feb and it works well. I havent used a cheaper package, but Gold seems to be doing what it says on the box
 
My Gold speaks for itself. I have been using it for years. Everytime there is an outage, I know why I pay for Gold. Everytime I download at 16:00 in the afternoon, I know why I am on Gold.

You are trying to say that everyone is experiencing issues. Well thats not true. I know of at least 5 people using Gold and loving it. 2 of them upgraded from Vanilla.

This will not be good enough. They need to get an eyeful of the Crown Jewels before they satisfied.

If you have cancelled why do you even care about the difference? I sympathize with your crappy gold but really don't smaak reading all this back and forth posts. But feel free to keep on spamming the thread. And it's spam because we have gone past the 'feedback' a long time ago.

But I have to ask again why do you care if you have cancelled already!? Move on with your new ISP.
