OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

You are saying that Gold is advertised as better than the Everyday account and you fail to find proof of this.
The proof is with the clients, Gold IS better than the lower tiers, it has a lower contention ratio and higher priority on the network. In the event of an outage, gold will get priority support. This has happened before and I was back online within minutes white others were stuck in the dark (last year's Seacom(?) incident)

If you feel this strongly about Gold being a scam, just cancel your account with OW. It's as easy as that. I'm a gold subscriber and find the performance perfect for me. I'm about to try out the Everyday uncapped tier too and I'm sure I will notice the difference. You keep asking for exact numbers when these cannot be publicly posted as stated by MrBEEP.

I think you should read the posts since yesterday morning. I think you should pay close attention to this thread over a few months. You will notice what others experience, and it will make more sense to you.

I also don't understand how your experience last year has anything to do with the issues which, for most people complaining, started late last year. You simply cannot base current times on what you experienced a year ago.

Also, take a look for yourself - http://openweb.co.za/gold_uncapped.html - http://openweb.co.za/everyday_uncapped.html - I'm not interested in this, but there's nothing about redundancy, both packages advertise the same backbones.

I take it you use your Gold account at home every work day during hours?

Stop saying 'hours' and say 'business hours'. Your posts would be much more tolerable.

My Gold speaks for itself. I have been using it for years. Everytime there is an outage, I know why I pay for Gold. Everytime I download at 16:00 in the afternoon, I know why I am on Gold.

You are trying to say that everyone is experiencing issues. Well thats not true. I know of at least 5 people using Gold and loving it. 2 of them upgraded from Vanilla.

Tell us, when last was there an outage? And which accounts did you compare with to show that you had access while others didn't?

You say you download at 16h00. Then you must be on an entirely different Gold account, because the network only becomes unshaped at 17h00.

I'm not trying to say that everyone is experiencing issues. I am highlighting the during hours issues which, if you paid close attention to this thread, you would understand is a big problem. One that both Gold and lower accounts suffer from. I am trying to understand where the superiority of Gold shows its benefits during hours?

Yes. I use my account all day everyday. I work from home.

I use the Gold power at the moment. I know for a fact there is redundancy on gold. I have experienced it myself.

Yes, I have been reading the thread. I see people complaining about different things. I also see Mrbeep answered your questions a few times yesterday, then you just keep throwing more at him.

You are trying to interrogate him.

I'm glad you have good performance during hours. You're outnumbered by the amount of people who complain about it, and that is the point here, nothing else.

The questions have not been answered. The reasons given are the same as the advertising for the product. Which says nothing for all those who experience poor speeds during hours, who would like answers. Poor speeds during hours while those on cheaper accounts do not experience problems. And when reaching after hours, where both Gold and cheaper accounts become unshaped.

Where is the benefit of Gold?

If you believe continued questions as a result of vague non answers is interrogation, then so be it.

Im not outnumbered. I know there are many people that enjoy their Gold accounts. If they didnt Openweb wouldnt be selling Gold.

I am a great ambassador for Gold and have recommended it to quite a few people who are also enjoying their accounts. The only difference is, they dont hang out here all day. You think that the people that hang out here is all Openweb has.

Guys, please can we stop fighting.

Pot, please post your outstanding questions so that I can answer them.

ijack, thank you for being an ambassador for Gold. It really is appreciated.

Have you guys not maybe noticed than since the start off the year telkom has been doing their own stuff, And alot of ISP are taking a knock for this, at one stage i was also fighting with openweb only to find out telkom decided to just switch ports all over the show and they screwed the exchange up badly, maybe if you all a bit more open minded about what telkom is doing at the moment with all these new MSAN going up it will explain alot of your issues,

I was asked to report back, so here is my international speedtest:

MrBEEP,

Supersport have finally responded to my reported issues with their streaming issues, and have effectively blamed Openweb. They state that I must changed ISPs as the issue is definitely not with their systems and is almost certainly with my ISP - Openweb. Here is there complete response, and I'd appreciate some feedback on your part: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...ms-Multichoice-says-quot-change-your-ISP-quot

Most likely mweb would be their solution.

You most definitely are outnumbered by the daily complaints in this thread of Gold/accounts being dead in the day. And you cannot make the assumption that many people enjoy their Gold accounts and that if they didn't they wouldn't be sold. That is a fallacy. Especially so when most people are using the internet after hours.

I appreciate that you are an ambassador, so was I. But those I've recommended it to complain about performance during hours, and some have cancelled too.

I think monitoring this thread is a great indicator of what's going on, if you were here more than just to post positive feedback, you would perhaps sympathise more with those paying for Gold who have poor performance during hours. Poorer performance than cheaper accounts. And the same performance as cheaper accounts after hours.

What do you say to all those who experience poor daytime performance? That they must just pack their bags and go elsewhere instead of finding out what the problem is? Perhaps they are happy with the support and want to stay? Perhaps they are curious why the new accounts they are issued end up failing in the same way a few days/weeks later? What do you explain to these people? Such as in this thread - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/586900-Openweb-Gold-Slow.

Thank you. I'll use another forumite's words:

@MrB33p, you seem to keep stating that you guys are going in circles, yet you the only one going in a circle. You are not answering his questions. You are avoiding his question completely. Unless you can provide some sort of clarification as to how Gold is better, I am afraid you are going to create alot of doubt here.

As per my previous post, in one post, kindly list all the questions you believe I have not answered so that I can answer them and we can move on.

Have been following this thread for the last couple of posts, and just want to add my opinion as well. I do feel that paying for a gold account and getting almost no performance during the day is way too much, and it is not quite advertised as such. When signing up I could not find anywhere where this was stated that the performance during the day would be non existant. I am not talking downloads here, I am referring to any usage including video streaming. I have raised this issue with their support desk and the reply I got was that I should rather looked into their capped accounts if I want any kind of day time performance. I have confirmed that it is not my exchange that is congested, as other ISP accounts run full line speed during the day.

I am moving to another ISP with a capped account at the end of the month as none of the ISP's I have tested can really give any constant performance during the day on an uncapped account. I do not think openweb is alone in this, but I do wish they would state how the account would perform for different protocols at different times during the day before signing up for an account.
