OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Seriously .....whats up with the speeds atm ? 60 -70Kbps NNTP on a 4MB line ??? It's been like this for days now. Not logged a call yet because on Speedtest ( this site ) It shows around 2.8 - 3Mb speeds. So I'm not sure if it is just me or what ?

I really wish we can just get the speeds we PAY for - no matter WHO provides the service ( OW or Telkom ).

almost done with my 200GB collection of every Pokemon ever. Took 3 whole days, and it will take a lot longer to watch it all. Going to be a good year :)))

Since my line upgrade my speed has been terrible, the weird thing it's only at night, my day time speed is perfect, anybody else having this issue?

Whenever the line goes to sh#t run some tests (Trace Route, ping 2nd hop, ping router etc)

never done a trace route before, no idea how this will help me but yeah for example I just did this now, don't know if its correct

Looks like exchange congestion or a line issue. If possible test with a different router and then log a fault with Telkom.

More work!! All ready tried different router, called telkom last week to reset my port, but thanks for the advice, just weird that my connection only craps out at night.

Server seems to be down...:(

Seems down indeed.

Code:
MacBook-Air:~ t$ telnet news.is.co.za 119
Trying 196.26.208.250...
telnet: connect to address 196.26.208.250: Connection refused
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host

We will work on a 'package builder' of sorts that will clearly define the difference between accounts.

Our new website is currently in development. I have added this to the to do list.

We do not specifically shape anything overall. The system places priority on items such as browsing, business actions etc, and a low priority on p2p, torrents and similar. Everything else falls into a medium priority.

Your contention ratio, regional area and how busy the network is will then automatically perform the shaping based on the above.

If you pay more, you share with less people, which equals a lower contention ratio which means an improved overall experience.

Ok, thanks MrB.

Any idea on time frames for implementation of new site - next month, 3-6, next year?

Decided to test nextgennews. Trial account works brilliantly. Might solve my retention issues as well. Very decently priced...
