OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Hi MrBeep, what information would you require? I would love for this to be resolved.

This is one of the gamers on priority now. I believe the guys are almost complete in adding all the IP's.

It should not produce a high latency, especially not on priority. Kindly email us as much info as possible: [email protected]

I'm currently on a 2MB Gamer's King package and getting really slow speeds browsing and downloading. Can barely browse and downloading keeps timing out. Anyone else having issues? It been like this all weekend.

After hours uncapped 40Meg and its been 4 hours and still no resolution to my problem. Account is running at exactly 10% of line speed. Only response has been quite snippy.

It seems that they just decided to ignore my support request for the last 12 hours. I recurring error and I usually just get new login details.

7:32am and now the after hours account gets full speed... I seriously hope this doesn't happen tonight...

Anyone on Openweb Gold, play Diablo? And experiencing really bad latency lately? Used to average 230-24, now above 320. Seems perfectly fine on an Afrihost account.

I'm on the Gamers King Account and my latency has been perfect since the new patch.

Not the case.

I see Leon spent 3.5 hours working on this last night. The job card came in this morning.

Hi

is there any problems on the network? my account was fine until monday. Posting this from a backup account from another ISP?

"Unshaped" is not necessarily better. The point of shaping is to ensure QoS. If your network is overloaded, then unshaped just means that the network will be bottle-necked when it is overused. Therefore I think it is better to say that no shaping is currently taking place than saying the network is unshaped.

If the network has enough capacity that shaping, and other QoS, need not kick in then you can possibly call it unshaped.

I also saw my latency being a lot higher than normal. Last night it was unplayable. I didn't check if it was fine with another ISP account though, so I don't know if it is an Openweb issue or not. I will check again tonight.

The network was indeed unshaped, as it was running well below its maximum capacity.

When I say unshape, I mean it.

Kindly PM me your details so that I can test the account for you

How does shaping look like right now? 720p YouTube is struggling on 10Mbs Gold Orange.

my account is slow as hell. just a normal 10gb capped account those ones for R49.

Its quite sad actually, when I first got it, it was awesome.

Anyone on OW having issues with Hearthstone? Not sure if it's me or the game that's messed up.

Hope someone can assist. My internet connection has been pretty horrible the past few weeks - I know its not Openweb as I get the same with any other ISP account I try. Traceroute shows horrible first hop as follows:

>tracert www.openweb.co.za

Tracing route to www.openweb.co.za [41.72.150.7]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms ADSL [172.16.1.1]
2 577 ms 602 ms 660 ms 196-210-201-1.dynamic.isadsl.co.za [196.210.201.
1]
3 589 ms 555 ms 551 ms cdsl2-ctn-vl2276.ip.isnet.net [196.38.72.125]
4 616 ms 622 ms 664 ms ^C

Is this definitely a sign of exchange congestion, or could it be bad copper or something on my line itself? Is it worth logging a fault with Telkom in cases like this, or should I just wait it out? Also, is there anywhere one can check a list of possible congested/problematic exchanges?

Any assistance in how/where/who to report something like this to would be appreciated...

That most definitely looks like exchange congestion. Having dealt with this particular beast myself, I can say that 10210 is useless. You will waste your time with them. Your best bet is to try get hold of your exchange's details or kidnap a Telkom technician.
