Sounds more like a line issue than OW's fault.

Lol your joking right? :P several people say the exact same thing over and over in this thread. I also use to be gold and saw no difference between my Gamers king and Gold account. So u saying everyone on here complaining about Gold has line issues. Definetly not openwebs fault they said, definetly your line they said :P

Its funny because i reread your comment. It literally has no value in this thread nor does it add anything positive or constructive to his problem :) yes and you hammer me about derailing. Ill but out of this thread for now to keep customer issues flowing :)

I was getting lag spikes in Lol so I decided to do an international speedtest only to find I'm getting timeouts to international servers either in the UK or US. Local speedtest is fine to CPT, but I'm sitting at between 80 and 120 ms to JHB.

Anyone else having issues?

yup can't even connect through OW having to use another ISP just to get email and on here
 
International speeds excellent here tonight, they were screwed for me on Monday night though.

Weird. I can ping certain servers fine but other ones not. E.G. Gabarone works fine. UK either times out completely or freezes after testing download speed.

Are you just selecting London or are you selecting a specific server in London?

If I select London it defaults to the Vodafone UK server. That's the one I used.

During working hours, my OpenWeb 2mb Gamers King account always seems to run at 1/3 the capacity it achieves during the evening. This has been true since I started using the account around 6 months ago. For instance, my HTTP downloads will hit 170kbps around 9pm, whereas now they're ticking over at 45kpbs. I would have thought that the reverse would be true.

Noise on the line is currently (upstream / downstream):

SNR Margin (dB) 15.5 / 34
Line Attenuation (dB) 9.8 / 15.6

Any insight into why this is the case?

These accounts are shaped quite heavily during the day. Downloads will be slower during business hours. General browsing, gaming, etc. should be fine though, if you are having issues with slow page loads, pages timing out or high latency then send Openweb a ticket or PM cableguy or MrBeep here on the forum.
 
A gamers King account is specifically designed for that purpose. Gaming protocols are full speed all day, however download protocols such as HTTP, P2P, NNTP will be shaped ( in your case to a 1/3 of the line speed, this varies based on current network load). :)

anyone knows how i can cancel my OW account? called many times and been holding for ages!!!

spoke to a lady now who knows absolutely nothing about their cancellation policy... apparently they cannot confirm a cancellation via phone, you need to email [email protected] and wait for them to respond and they cant give you a time...

then if i cancel today, i still got to pay at the end of the month, but she cannot tell me if my service is still active till end May or not... so basically i'll only know if my cancellation is effective on 1 may if i dont have any access after that time, but still paid for it!? :wtf:

and to top it all off... this is basically a 60 day notice period instead of the 30 days.. (i know how calender months works, but sensibly OW is ripping us off - just my opinion)
