OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Come to think of it, I cannot remember when last my OW account worked properly...

One should always have more than one ISP account that are on different networks so that one can diagnose whether it's an ISP or Telkom problem.

If it's the former, then, in my experience, one should not wait for said ISP to sort their **** out, instead, grow some balls and try others until one finds one that works for them, trust me, they're out there!

I see all support tickets have been responded to.

Would you like to PM me the ticket number so that I can take a look for you

Hey since I last posted my speeds have gone up from 10 percent line speed to 15 percent line speed. No response to my support ticket either.

Unshaped @ 12:01am today. Makes a change, albeit for the worse, from the 11:01pm of the past few evenings.

OW either fix your network issues or come clean about your new shaping policies.

Thanks for allowing me to live my dream; You know, that dream where I pay for Gold 2MB access and barely even manage to get a notch above 10% of the product...

No more emails.
No more switching backbones and changing accounts twice per month.

Way I see it, there are 2 options:
a) FIX this.
b) Tell me to F-off.

Please get this over with, because I am no longer willing to put up with this horse**** on a daily/weekly basis.

Kindly email [email protected] so that the guys can test the account for you and investigate further

Our shaping will not produce a latency. Any high latency will be caused by Telkom or your router.

We monitor latency very closely, and it has not seen a spike for quite some time.

International and Local servers in Cape Town. I posted the results on the prev page.

The shaping policy has not changed in a number of years. It is dynamic based on how busy the network is at any given time.

Would you like to upgrade to a guaranteed unshaped product? If so, please mail [email protected] so that they can discuss the options with you.

I'm at a loss here. My browsing is dead! Speedtest starts off fine then drops to 0.16, I cancelled the speedtest after waiting about a minute for it to complete.

Now here is the KICKER! nntp is running at full speed!

Explain this to me please?

Everything was going very well until 7am...
Is this shaping? Started at exactly 7am again... speeds dropped from 405kb to under 200kb

So in the face of mutiple people on here experiencing shoddy performance/later shaping plus my weeks worth of testing and confirming what I believe to be the case your solution is for me to pay you people more for the same service I've received for the past few years?

Excuse my French, but get fcking real, mate! Think it's time for a few people to band to together and take this up with ISPA.

If your "dynamic shaping" requires me to be reduced to below 10% at ANY given point in time, then it sounds like you are VASTLY overselling your actual capacity.

That said... YOUR problem, not MINE.

ANY dynamic shaping that turns out less than 50-60% of advertised product in any snapshotted point of time = absolute garbage, and you know it!

ESPECIALLY FOR A "GOLD" PRODUCT ADVERTISED TO PERFORM BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay! 0.12mb/s here. So nothing out of the ordinary for openweb of late!

Now I must pm cableguy, have my ports reset (possibly get new login details), reset my router, and enjoy my internet bliss... for the next week. Then restart the process all over again...

Really had enough of this!
