OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

5 sessions active on my account over yesterday according to saix.net. 10 active sessions since 01/05/2014.

So who else is connecting to my account? It's the same IPs consistently...

Oh yes, I forgot, we can't use that site to track the usage on our accounts. Never told why, just been told it's inaccurate. Just because.

"No sir, you can't use a Croxley ruler to measure the distance between A-B, you can only use Our Ruler (TM) because the Croxley ruler is inaccurate. Can't say why. It just is."

4 more weeks and then I'm done with this tedious garbage. Cannot wait and could and would never recommend an uncapped account with Openweb.

Are you able to get full speed? Or have you been getting slow speeds?

How many sessions connected at the same time? Maybe post a screenshot for us.

You can have 300 sessions. Are they at the same time or reconnects?

Screen shot pls.

Yeah I will post some screenshots because I'm not really too sure what to make of this.

I am in Cape Town.

Speeds were unremarkable for Friday and Saturday (day) - but didn't use the internet much as wasn't home. Noticed pretty crap speeds in the afternoon extending into the evening, about 20-30% of line speed. Did the whole "router reset" rigmarole around 17:30-18:30.

Things picked up a bit after that but continued to yo-yo the rest of the evening. It was a see-saw bandwidth graph with peaks and troughs. It's still see-sawing from 100% - 50% and back again.

Support claim it to be a problem with my router, line or other equipment (not sure what that constitutes - cables?). We've all heard that before. So over this. So so so so over it.

Glad I cancelled last month and the final debit has come off, so they're not getting another cent from me for the rest of my days.

Yep was running at full throttle (4.2MB/sec) for just over an hour, but I only have a 20Mbit account

OpenTime is over now it seems :(

Hello

Please drop me a PM with your details so that I can test the account.

We did experience an issue at the beginning of the month, but this has since been resolved

It's those damn windows updates! My pc was in the middle of ripping some ISO's into mp4's. I promptly changed the windows update setting to manual.

Have a similar problem with OW that is why I am exploring other options.

On Friday I tried to download 5.3Mb of data to update one of my software programmes and it took 29 Minutes to complete.

Clearly at least two people using the account, and the seesaw graph with peaks and troughs sounds just like direct contending for bandwidth.

There were DNS issues yesterday. As posted about in the thread...

Hello fatman,

Thanks for the offer but I feel it would be a complete waste of time because every time I do send in a complaint/query, although your response is always very prompt, I usually get told, either it is shaping because my usage is too high, or I get what I pay for, or I must upgrade, or I must contact Telkom for further troubleshooting, etc.

I'm sorry to hear that.

The invitation is open if you would like me to investigate this for you

Thanks again Cableguy but this happened on Friday which was more than likely due to OW's shaping as my browser also slowed down quite considerably. In actual fact I tried to access your (OW) website and it took ages to open and when I went to your Terms and Conditions link, it just hung so I gave up in frustration.

Ive cancelled with OW twice hoping third time lucky.. guess i was wrong same issue as before web pages take forever to load 95% of the time pages time out and refresh is required multiple times... All prior cancellations have been due to the exact same issue... switched from afrihost due to price, switched back, switched again for price hoping for improvement same result then switched to Incredible connections uncapped deal at R99 excellent speeds but terrible usage policy and here i am back on OW what a mistake... Stay away from OW uncapped accounts!!!
