OpenWeb ADSL Feedback Thread (Pt2)

Just a quick question to throw out to all the other OpenWeb users: is anyone else having trouble with their connection? Since Friday morning I have been unable to connect to my OpenWeb account, receiving an 'Authentication Error' - anyone else having issues as well?

Currently on my backup ADSL account to post this, and it seems OpenWeb doesn't run support on the weekends, at least telephonically.

Even capped accounts are buggered tonight. In fact since yesterday. Can't get full line speed on anything at the moment. Got 1 gig left on a Windows Server download - ETA is 4 hours...on a 10Mb capped account...

Indeed they are... my poor iPad is complaining bitterly.
Today I got phoned up by an angry client demanding to know why I am ignoring him. His messages are not coming through because the ADSL is up and down, not the physical line or the connection.
Making another plan right this minute to get connected elsewhere!

1. Are you saying you suffereing on a saturday on IS? You sure you not on MTN?

2. Haven't you been complaining for more than it takes to cancel (no offence intended)?

I wish when people report problems that they actually provide something for us to look at (MyBB speedtest and tracert?), like a screenshot of the crap they're experiencing / vs another ISP where things are normal?

I wish you would stop expecting people to post all kinds of evidence every time we experience issues, but we can't always get what we want. I'm not exactly new to ADSL. I know how to do basic troubleshooting so I know how to check whether the issue is on my side or not. Sorry if I don't post tracerts every time I am being shaped into the ground.

Only my torrents are crawling, did you not read? Do you think I'm lying or do you want me to post a screenshot of my torrents downloading at 0.2kb/s? Is my word not enough?

My 22 gb torrent is downloading at 220kB/s at this moment. That's because I'm using a different IS-based account (Connection 4mb uncapped). So IS is not at fault here. Blame OW.

I don't know about this weekend, but in the past, I have been able to reach them via e-mail on weekends.

Have you tried e-mail today?

Thanks for the response, Fatman, appreciate it. I have e-mailed them through their web ticket system; hopefully will hear back soon :)

It seems though from what I can tell, I had an issue several months back with my first account, and was asked to switch to a new username, and have been using that one ever since. For the sport of it, I tried using my old account details, and am connected again to my 10meg Gamer Edition (presumably) - I have to assume that there is suddenly a problem with the authentication of my current username and password; unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to amend my support ticket to let them know this.

FFS! Tone Down the hostilities!

I wasn't trying to offend anyone - K!

I was just merely suggesting that when one has issues, that they post PROOF (a comparison between OW and an ALT ISP!) FOR ALL TO SEE, so we can make our own analysis!

There are a lot of peeps out there that blame ISP for their Telkom problems, and is the method to my madness, trying to separate the real complaints from the "sorry for you" complaints!

I'm sorry, but this thread is starting to ready like a stuck record!

I'm sorry I offended you as I can understand that my suggestion can insult some people that know their problem isn't Telkom but OW, but I stand by my request, as even us more knowledgeable folk like to see some proof before they are taken seriously (well at least I do!).

Again, I humbly apologise for any buttons pushed, but bear in mind your response also pushed some buttons too!

Absolutely, keep the comparisons coming. Useful for all the new eyes on this thread, as the truth becomes clearer and reaches further.

Going like a Boeing over here too.

Had to take the screenshot quickly before the download finished :D

Thanks for that guys, really appreciate the feedback. Guess it has to be something specifically with my account then. Also, I'm as green as a lime with regard to those speeds :P Incredible stuff!

>righteous indignation<

And yet yesterday you told people in the WebAfrica thread to completely ignore complaints not backed up by 'evidence.' That completely undermines any complaint where the poster is not going to excessive amounts of effort to 'back up' their claims.

I don't take complaints like this seriously unless they are backed up with hard evidence like speedtests and tracerts from alt ISP's!

People, please ignore posts like this!

I'm sorry Plassjapie, I don't mean to offend you, and am just trying to point you in the right direction :(

You'll have to make up your mind. Are you suggesting we post proof or are you setting an ultimatum where posts should be ignored if not accompanied by proof of rigorous testing?

I don't have the time, nor the will, to do tracerts, speedtests and screenshots, log into another account in my router, do tracerts, speedtests and screenshots and then come upload them here every single time I have an issue with my account. Sorry. You'll just have to take my word for it.
