I'm moving to Telkom, what's the story with canceling an OpenWeb account?
If I cancel end of this month my account will officially end the end of next month, correct?
how many days before the end of the month do you have, to cancel?
Like, if I call the 30th of October, it will end at the end of november, correct? (or do I need even more time than that to have everything completely canceled by end november?)
Also, if I cancel, can I "un-cancel" before the 30th of November? (Just thinking if the Telkom account doesn't work out?)
They have this silly 30 day notice thingy written in their T&C's. You should have cancelled before the 25th of October to end 30 November.
8 TERMINATION OF USE AND DOWNGRADES OF THE SERVICE BY THE USER
The user may terminate the use of the service by giving written notice to OpenISP at [email protected] or Fax to 086 691 2166 as follows:
8.1 One (1) calendar months’ notice for all users making use of debit/credit order payment facilities, given before the 25th day of the month before the last month for the provision of the service (e.g. if the user wishes the use of the service to terminate at the end of April, notice of termination must be given before 25 March). Users may not downgrade their ADSL account/s during/for the one (1) calendar months’ notice period. Where proper notice is given in time, OpenISP will issue, by email, a cancellation reference number. Only once a cancellation reference number has been issued will the user’s account be deemed to be cancelled.
But on their website it clearly says no contracts its month to month.
These oakes are a las I hate them
25th are u serious?!
How can it be 30 days notice if I have to cancel before the 25th? I thought i had until the 30th of this month?
That's more like 35 days notice![]()
Ok chaps... Telkom doesn't supply 10Mbps in my area yet so it seems I will be staying at OpenWeb after all. upgrading to 4Mbps.
Tell me, I have one of the old "2Mbps Gold Unapped Leon/Orange" accounts, which is R250 odd per month.
How is the new packages? specifically the "4Mbps home uncapped" deal which is also R250 per month?
Now, I know it won't be a gold package anymore, but how are these packages for late night downloading and weekends? Do they run at full speed during these off-peak times?
(I'm planning on only using them in off-peak times, not really during the day as such)
Quite frankly, I have the suspicion that I've been moved to these new home uncapped packages anyway since the changes, and I'm paying R250 for 2Mbps which isn't gold anymore in any case?
(My downloads don't go like they used to...only late at night do they start to pick up speed)
If I was you, I would go for connection.co.za's R199 deal, giving you better value. It works well for me. Promocode is "incredible4".
Also, no calendar month notice crap if you want to leave, just one click before the 25th is all that's needed. They do pro-rata too so you can sign up now and pay a pittance, but I guess you will still be paying for the 2mb account for the next two months as it's too late to give notice now, that also has to be in before the 25th.
You don't understand... I'm kind of a heavy downloader - I need the "Night Surfer" or "Download Heaven" addons.
So that limits me to Telkom & OpenWeb really...
Also, I would prefer to try out OW's 4Mbit uncapped first...
if OpenWeb's package doesn't work out I'll cancel before the 25th of November and wait for the end of December, and then try out another ISP.
The only reason I wanted to cancel was because I thought I could get a Telkom all in one 10Mbit package.... turns out the max I have is 4Mbps in my area.
So am I, I do 10GB a night on my 4mb line. I only do my downloads between 23:00-6:00 (lately I've been running them until 8:00).
I'm on 225GB's as of today, and always get full speed after 5pm and all weekend.
I'm on 290GB, on my 2mb line.
i'll try it out though if OpenWeb doesn't meet my expectations..... but I think they will.
