Dear MyADSL Friends

OpenWeb is about 3/4 way complete with the development of our new Client Control Panel entitled 'OpenLounge'.

We are at a stage where we request your valuable input.

Let me tell you what features we have so far:

1. Instant Credit Card Activation
2. Instant Credit Card Topups
3. Client configured Credit Card Recurring Billing
4. Prepaid bandwidth with monthly rollover function - Package range entitled 'SnowBall'
5. Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly usage statistics with projected and historical bandwidth usage calculations
6. Usage Graphs
7. Lock ADSL account to your DSLAM port - prevention of bandwidth theft
8. Change ADSL Account Password / s.
9. Top secret product that will be a first in Africa, launching free to OpenWeb clients.

I invite you to post your ideas, as any input from MyADSL forum members are extremely valuable to us.

I'd rethink the 'SnowBall' title. ;)
 
When something snowballs it is said to "increase or accumulate at a rapidly accelerating rate" - and is often associated with escalating problems.

There's another less savoury definition but here's not the place for it.

As far as concepts go your control panel looks encouraging. :D

A facility to opt out of announcements would be nice and different levels of subscribing to them.

As for the topic of snowballing...I agree I think you should try to steer clear of that altogether ;)

HIP2B2 ran a competition about 18 months ago where the object was to tell your friends and bring in more users (if I remember correctly, w1z4rd did very well in it). This competition was entitled "Snowball".

The way I see it, the snowball effect is the cumulation of something over a period of time, taking into effect it's new volume each period (ie. compound interest). As your bandwidth is growing over the time you don't use it and it is being added to your cumulative total at the end of each month, I think it fits the discription.

We don't want to look/sound like we're just ripping off other ISPs. Our client centre is unique and the products that we offer are unique. As opposed to calling it "Prepaid bandwidth with rollover", we've found a new and innovative name. If you want to interpret it as a spiralling problem, then you probably won't be snowballing your bandwidth at our ISP for long :p

Out of interest, is there a "positive" term which can be applied to replace the "snowball effect" ?

There is no cumulative growth - you buy, you use, you buy more. If you were purchasing a set amount every month and the unused portion carried over then it would be an apt description.
 
yes plz i would like to able to just change from 30-40 gig i need that extra 10 of porno :)


i think if you guys get this right, then you will be the undisputed king of ISP :)

you pretty much are in my eyes :) hint hint uncapped for a month for free plz hahaha

How would you go about achieving this. It would, if I'm correct, require a high degree of intraction with Telkom as they control the DSLAM?! Is that humanly possible to get them to do something right the first time?

lol - if memory serves whenever you recommend an ISP bad things seem to happen to them! :p

Telkom has supplied us with the tools in order to carry out such an operation. Surprising, but true :p
