Hey guys, are Afrihost and Openweb good? Which would you suggest? I am tired of mweb. If I leave Mweb can I still keep my email address? how much will that cost? I don't use too much each month. I use anywhere from 80-180GB (4mbps). I'm looking at the 4meg and 10meg.

Thanks

Just moved from mweb to afrihost and the performance increase is actually staggering! As far as I know for R60 pm you can keep your mweb email, but I would suggest just getting a Gmail account as you can take it anywhere you go

Hey Charly

You can always test drive our network on Free GB unshaped product, which costs you absolutely zero. From there you can decided if you'd like to look at Capped or Uncapped, which are both available in attractively priced bundles.

Keeping your email is tricky. Some ISPs do allows this for a fee. With every DSL product, you do receive a free @afrihost.co.za email address, though I always recommend having your own domain (that can never be taken away from you). For just R9 per month, you can host your own email (and we'll register the domain for free if it's a .co.za)

Drop me a PM so I can give you more info and assistance :)

I would recommend OpenWeb. Getting 4mbps international downloads compared to Afrihost's 1.2mbps (on the same line). Openweb might be a bit more expensive but speeds are better compared to Afrihost.

  1. Change to an email only service.
  2. Sign up for a gmail account.
  3. Configure Gmail to fetch your mweb email via pop.

This way, when you reply on email received via your mweb account, it wil reply from your gmail address and people will automatically know about your new email address.
Once you are happy (in a few weeks, months, years) that no one is sending email to your mweb address, you can cancel the email only service.
