A few months ago I ordered a 10MB home uncapped ADSL account from OpenWeb.

Since I got this account, I have been having terrible speed, barely getting 7.5MBPS to local sited even though my line works perfectly at 10MBPS with other providers.

Leon at OpenWeb support always replied saying "Account reset" and then the account would be slightly faster for a day and then it would slow down a lot again.

Today I discovered on the IS portal that this 10MB account that I have been paying for is actually throttled to 8192K. So Openweb is falsely advertising their products, thereby misleading the public.

Has anybody else encountered this? I think this calls for a complaint to ISPA!

Nobody here likes openweb because everyone who have made use of them before had similar problems.

Heres a screenshot from IS showing the speed of this "10MBPS uncapped account"

Openweb is like dog poo on the grass, you do not step on it intentionally. Now you know better, get rid of them.

Ok so if they are not registered with ISPA, I'm gonna lodge a complaint with ASA so that they remove all misleading information from their website and change the wording so that 10Mbps uncapped becomes 8MBps Uncapped.

How much money are they making fooling the public like this? Its madness that they think they can do this and then always tell people stories about why the speed is slower ....

It's openweb... they get away with anything. - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/622747-The-truth-about-Openweb

That is how they manage to sell their 10Mbps accounts for cheaper than other ISP's. The 8192k speed limit will technically not limit you on a 10Mbps adsl since the max is 8.7Mbps or so I think.

That said yes very misleading indeed I guess they had to find a way to be "competitive"

Also Openweb uncapped accounts are a disaster of note. Not being direct IS accounts that are being sold they are so slow that a 384k adsl line will be faster than your 10Mbps line. These uncapped accounts are SLOW damn.

I tested and tried to download a torrent from a public tracker during the day. from 6am to 6pm I managed to download a total of 110mb for 12 hours. That is not shaping that is actually limiting the account. Youtube,p2p,usenet and radio streaming just does not work at all.

You are best off switching to a capped account or just get the Vox fatpipe special because Openweb uncapped is a absolute joke.

IS direct star rating uncapped accounts are not even shaped like that even on 1 star.....
