Hi there.
Does anybody know if openweb has a proxy or a service that will enable me to redirect traffic to one or two ip's through saix rather than IS.

At the moment i've got an openweb uncapped account (\0/). It's great but for any game that i play internationally i immediately get a 600ms+ ping :(

Now compared to a saix account that gives me a ping of bout 340ms this is much slower.

I wouldn't mind forking out for the service if it was there. ......... hint hint ;)

If you setup RASPPPoE and Routesentry, you could just add a custom route rule to send the gaming traffic over the SAIX account.

People around MyADSL will be able to help you set it up :)

You could also use the uncapped proxy in Ryuji's sig. Is Openweb planning to offer something similar?

I never said they were not, they are a good company, run by good people.

Just that Proxy server is Inovation !

True, its a good innovation too. :) If you're not an existing ODS client and buy a gig does it roll over or expire at the end of the month?

HaNsA, i suppose we all make mistakes. if i were to leave each isp over their mistakes they make first time - i would be isp-less. all business has their issues, which i am sure if you would know of if you had your own company from startup. No one is perfect we are humans even MR Beep ;)

marco himself was very quick today in responding to my emails which i actually thought was odd for change.

that post on the forum was tad off from me - my bad. (thought i was pissed beyond pissed, but could have handled it in a better manner - as nothing was really gained in posting it online)

they mostly didn't respsond yet to it all BUT at least this proxy is a 'try again' i would say to have something good of a change for their clients that actually wants to play international gaming at a lower ping rate with same isp rather than have a splitting mess.

sure you would understand paying a amount of R362 + R1368 does tend to have you think why so much money and it feels like jack (mostly to blame on telkom anyways).

the isps's themselves can only do so much with their bandwith at it cost handed to them - and i am sure if telkom was selling it at R80 we all would have had a nice ADSL account for say R150 p/m...

anways... im off

cheers

I don't think you were quite born yet when OpenWeb introduced the first Unshaped, Free to all Proxy server back in 2004.

Brother, you need not talk to me about innovation.

We were 1st with:

Unshaped Proxy Server
OpenBrowse
Special Uncapped ADSL Accounts
Static DNS
Local Only ADSL accounts.

Mr Beep,

Its called " Innovation " herewith the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innovation

Quote "the process of making improvements by introducing something new" rather then copying. Thats the quote.

Well my problem is that if i had a spare pc then I would have done the above mentioned but unfortunately I have about 4 other ppl in my house that all share my line. Using the built in dhcp of my router we all connect that way.

Now if i were to setup bridged mode on the router and run separate accounts i'd have to enable ICS or use some proxy software again, which on my slow ass pc is not a good idea. Also then ppl will b relliant that my pc is 24/7 online which is not a good thing.

Too bad I can't get a new router also and use my router to handle the connections and split it like that one guy did with his dlink's or was it netgears?

Anyways. Yeah mrBeep if u were to introduce something like this it would be awesome and greatly appreciated :).

hi MrBEEP,

i stand corrected but were did nukecap fit in then ?
didn't they release a proxy service first ?

...just wondering

They copied us about a month after we launched ours.

Search the forums.

Hey, MrBeep, you don't have to justify yourself. A lot of us out here know exactly how innovative you are. Thanx for always trying harder.

Unshaped yes but not the whole proxy thing. So yes I give you that part ;)
