Openweb Uncapped Feedback

Sent my cancellation to MWEB already, now just have to wait out the 30 days before I switch...if I can wait that long.

Hopefully its still good by then :p

That means you'll have to wait till February 2011

@Mfour - rather than cancel, ask to be downgraded to their cheapest offering. Then cancel that in 30 days... That way you can get started with openweb sooner...

On openweb side, speeds have been good, but not as good as I have seen them before... All networks in order? Cape town...

That's what I am afraid of. If it does turn out to go pear shape, I will probably go for MWEB 384 unshaped uncapped, if all else fails. I need probably at most 100GB a month (if that) I just don't have the patience to wait the entire month to get it.

Good idea, but I'm on the 512 package so no big saving to be had really. I'll see if I can wait that long, I might just have to sign up sooner rather than later :)

@Mfour, done about 150gb so far this month.
On 4mbps gold shaped. Service been great so far. Just been noticing a slight dip in the evenings. But it is still at least 3X faster than mweb for 20 hours of the day...

Should have moved over long ago...

You can't. Openweb doesn't believe in monitoring uncapped usage... The best would be for you to use a bandwidth monitor if you want to know how much you are using...

I like to know so I can see my cost per gb... That way I know if the additional R200 is worth it or not... I'm on the IS backbone at the moment. IS does like to track usage and I see hourly reports on how much bw I've used :D

I like their thinking :) Uncapped shouldn't be counted - the cost is what ever you pay for uncapped :D It also means you can't be accused of abusing the service if you have no clue what you used :p

Hey all
Just wanted to drop an update in this thread as it's been a while since I've posted.
Simply put my account (4Meg Uncapped Gold) has been running like a dream, almost always downloading at max speed (for my particular line, 380-400kbps), very fast video streaming (480p on average, some vids 720p with no buffering required) wow latency is low (even on a high population server during Cata launch week), only a couple of disconnects, but I think thats my router going.

Again, big thanks to Mr. Beep for the help he has provided me with :)

PS. Made this post just to show that all posts here aren't about things not working :)

Thread is quiet. Must be the excellent product! Awesome speeds yesterday afternoon. Hit a 480 again!

480 kbps? Nah I'm thinking here its your burst speed.
Nothing more - nothing less.

Experiencing massive packet loss atm on international, local is fine:

Ping statistics for 209.85.229.18:
Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 14, Lost = 6 (30% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 484ms, Maximum = 490ms, Average = 487ms

Anyone else?

Yeah. Something is definitely wrong. I'm on IS backbone and ping is double what I usually get.

I'm going to send a mail to Keoma now and hope they can fix it quickly.

Hello Hilton,

Kindly email me: [email protected]

False advertising? Gold has a 25% lower contention ratio than Standard, fact.

If yours is not performing well, please mail me so that I can correct the fault, as 99% of our Gold clients are more than happy with their products. The 1% are having faults individually related to their account, network, config or area.

There was a Telkom cable fault on the backbone side causing issues on IS this afternoon. All should now be resolved.

I know all was going really well this week, but this is Africa after all. And anything Telkom touches does turn into.......
