Had a few disconnects over the weekend, nothing major, but speeds were still great. "burst speed" was at 417kb/s, almost the whole weekend.

I didn't have disconnects, but line performance was dodgy at best the last week.
My http-requests have this tendency to time out, literally.... and I'm not even going to mention torrents. The highest speed it reached since I moved over to the VB backbone (even over this weekend) was a whopping 6KBps..... ;(

I can't understand, my speeds on the VB backbone have also been up and down. For long stages I won't get anything higher than 100KB/s. It would just max out at that. Two hours later, it increases to 250KB/s.. then bursts up to 350KB/s and then goes down again (on nzb downloads). Its really inconsistent the past 2 weeks, wasn't like that at all in November. Not really that keen for the IS backbone, as latencies are awesome on VB for me personally. Perhaps I should stick it out and see if it gets better, could be Telkom maintenance in my area affecting speeds as well. :wtf:

EDIT: HTTP speeds are acceptable with Orbit download accelerator, going along at 290-460KB/s

I use FDM, and HTTP downloads have been excellent. I think my disconnect issues are modem related, and exchange is being 10meg enabled. Torrents on VB are terrible, so don't even bother anymore. I get what i need from Downstorm, and the seeding option keeps my ratios looking good.

I see Openweb web a special on Gold - 4Mbps Gold Uncapped - R659 for users who aren't already on it? How do users on it get the special? Do I need to cancel and signup again?

Yeah but I cant afford OW Gold AND Downstorm.... R318 is already expensive for the service I've been getting this month (and last month frankly).

Yeah it's ONLY for those that aren't on it. I doubt they will allow you to cancel and then opt for the special :p

Froot. Why not e-mail Keoma and explain situation. He will be able to assist i am sure. Either solve line issue, OR suggest something better suited for your situation.

I will try and wait out this month wrt the backbone thing - last month I was moved around 3 times I think.

Well thats pretty stupid giving new and current people better prices than those currently paying a premium... sent them an email to enquire...Not a fan of "we already have you as a customer paying a premium - so you get nothing from us".

I also enquired as I only signed up 26 november... So I'm new enough. Only started using the service in december. Service has been excellent though.

 I'll see what they say - else I'll just cancel and wait for the next special - running out of things to download anyway.

Hey Friends,

This special only applies to one network, which is giving us a subsidized rate. If you downgrade to the special, you will move from the network you are on now, to the new network subsidizing the rate.

You will also not have the option of moving to a different network when things go pear shaped, as only 1 network is subsidizing us.
