Im happy with openweb as the service level is really good. Only problem I have is that video streaming keeps buffering and is running slow. Not a big issue for me as everything else is still working fine.

Umm I did! Last night, didnt get a response hence the post here. check your PM dated 02-08-2011 at 12:45 AM.. well technically this morning... but its almost 24hrs ago
Title: News servers

*EDIT*- I have just forwarded the same message to you again.

*EDIT* - I now have mailed you and sent you a PM.

Thanx

I have been with Openweb for almost 2 years and I was very happy on the 384 option, the 4MB upgrade, I am having some teething issues. Which reminds me, Mr. Beep, I am still awaiting your response?? I have sent you an e-mail and PM. Please can you respond?

<sigh> Two days of good speed on my 1mb Gold account at the beginning of the month and now I'm back to what feels like 56k modem speeds.

Theoretically I could grab 400mb in an hour and I've just managed to get that...in a day :(

NNTP is shaped to 10% of capacity and HTTP is no better.

Kindly email [email protected] so that I can investigate

Hi Keenyn

I have PM's you back.

Hey Mr Beep. Noticed for the last week or so, on the Altech bacbone, with my 4Meg line, I only average about 2.2Mbps. don't seem to get my full line speed. A single http download for example will top out at about 230kbps. If I have two going at the same time, then they both average out to 100kbps each. Quickly checked with my SAIX account and I seem to get my full line speed. Any ideas?

I have noticed over the past almost 2 weeks that on my Gold 4MB uncapped account the download speeds are not smooth. For instance when i download updates or podcasts from iTunes the speed will go to 500KB/s for a few seconds then drop down to half then all the way to 0 then after a few seconds it will go back up to peak and repeat the whole process. So because of this downloads are taking a fair bit longer than they are supposed to. Also when I am downloading something like an update then it seems to freeze almost any other downloading or browsing in the background. For instance my Instant messaging becomes very slow to almost unusable and even trying to access something like a news app on my iPad while connected via wifi to my modem becomes very slow. ITs almost as if once a file is downloading then it wont allow anything else to share the connection.
Can someone assist with this??

@cableosa, it seems from your post you never asked to change your backbone. Find out which one you are on and email [email protected] to change your backbone and you will be sorted. I can't say what is causing that but try changing backbones and report back :)

Seems Altech has just died. Switched to SAIX for now. Anyone else in Durban having connectivity issues?

This is now the 3rd month since February that my password has been changed at the beginning of the month without me being notified... and getting annoying. Been down the entire day. Does anyone else have this happening frequently on VB Gold?

If I didn't have an Afrihost account I'd be screwed.

Dunno hey. My http downloads ATM are only running at 40-50kb/s which is not all that great :/

There is currently an Altech radius server fault. Engineers are attending. ETA: 2 hours. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Folks on the Altech ADSL accounts will have authentication failure issues when trying to connect.
